Thats what I was thinking. I have been following the SAB forum as this is a possible next heli for me and I kept thinking what new heli EVER has been released without some issues?

well said.
Also the price, if they try to do perfect, the replacement cost of the tail boom is well above 150usd. I am sure they are improving much better for the next lots. It will be better for all of us with a incredible price of 70usd tail boom. Look at how many parts that go together with that huge carbon fiber tail boom. The paint process costs 70usd itself. |

This has got to be joke of the day If misalignment and over spray cost $70, I wonder how much more would it be for a better paint job

Well you can be the first to let use know how much it cost for materials paint decals, O and did I mention all the tools you will need to make it strong enough to fly on a 700 size helicopter while Tereq alsaadi is at the helms. Joke of the day, the joke of the day is when People try to find something that is brand new and criticize it when all u really need to do is call HD let them know your problem and get a new boom instead of being all negative. We didnt get were we are today by whinning about it, we got here by taking action, and making it happen.
Like I said before, this is a brand new heli with a totally new design and a huge Reputation to live up to....But I will tell you this pick and complain all you want, I dont know how you fly, but I can tell you I dont hover I try to destroy every helicopter I can by hard Smack and big Maneuvers, and Im sorry to say that when ppl finally fly this heli all the complaints in the world aint going to amount nothing.. Cuz heli is nothing short of the best helicopter I have ever seen hit the show room floor. Talk all you want too about the beginning little miniscule stuff, cuz in the end all your doing is making yourself look like a Hater and it doesnt matter to me anyways. The Goblin 700, well its paving the way for new generation of helis and Im looking forward to it. Just like the Logo and the Aligns this is just another page in history for this heli, and im sorry to say it but good luck finding anything better. Stick with what you got and Enjoy it but dont you dont really know what your talking about and it shows through. |

We are from Team SAB GOBLIN USA. We support customers from USA. If you think your boom is not up to your expectation, you can call Helidirect and exchange new one. If you ever paint a carbon fiber part, you will know how hard it is to make sure the surface is good and I am sure SAB HELI DIVISION will do better very soon. Remember we are here to support you.

I also believe that the customers should contact their LHS first. Issues can easily be fixed. SAB is the best and they are improving and listening. This alone is outstanding service. Thanks to SAB

I've been through the first batch blues. My dealer took care of the issues very well indeed. It can be difficult to remain positive when you're frustrated, but the only thing I can say is it must be even tougher with SAB's first heli kit to market. Clearly, going from prototypes to production has a slew of possible problems, from quality to supply chain and everything in between. I bet SAB will make everyone happy. I wish you all the best of fortunes. I hope SAB is very successful with the Goblin. When you get it all worked out, and you most definitely will, it will be the head turner heli at your field, and one badass machine for sure!!

I didn't buy this heli for the paint job. I bought it for its innovations and all the thought that went into it. If I wanted something where the paint job is 100% perfect I would have waited to next year. I want the goblin for what it is, an evil looking heli, different, unique, ugly according to some. I can't wait to hear if it truly does sound different to the other electrics.

This thread is off track. If you have a goblin and you have a complaint about the quality of the parts then speak up. Like most new and inovative products in this day and age the initial release will reveal flaws that weren't anticipated by the designers. If you don't have a kit then you have no reason to complain about paint and cosmetic flaws. Sit back and watch how Sab addresses the QC issues and let that influence your decision to purchase their product. I have had a few issues with my kit. They are being appropriately addressed since I have made Sab and the distributor aware of them. I am still very happy with my purchase but it has been pointed out, either be first in line and sort the issues yourself or wait and buy the refined product.

Did I hurt your feeling or something?
My comment was very simple and you seemed to lump all the other negative comments into mine. *Obviously there is quality issue *with the paint and some pissed off customers so one should not go *around and boast the paint process is expensive and cost $70 per Goblin. *If it is so fraking hard to paint on fiber carbon, why is it that all the cf blades that i see all look excellent including the cheapo ones? What does the $70 paint process that have to do with over spray or not lining up or air bubbles? * * Not everyone who buys a $100k Land Rover to go off roading or a $250k Ferrari and takes it to the tracks. *Most of them will never leave the pavement or see the tracks so the same with the Goblin. *The potential is there but not everyone who buys one has the skills to truly appreciate it. *What they can do is to appreciate its new style and beauty and if you don't understand why they are pissed off when the paint on their $1000 (oops my bad, $820) heli is not what they expected then I think you drink too much of the Goblin Kool Aid. It is good to know that SAB are here and *acknowledged it and stand behind their products and customers. * Quote:

Got my Goblin today, and started the build. All I can say is WOW. Outstanding. Every screw and part is individually bagged, so much fun to build this way... More time spent building and less hunting down parts and measuring screws!
The machined parts are like helicopter Jewelry! Absolute precision. The parts fit together with ZERO play. Top notch. Canopy looked beautiful. And the tail boom everyone's talking about is not glossy like the canopy, but it looks fine. To put it in perspective, every other heli has a tail boom made from a black aluminum pipe! I'll take my semi-gloss green Goblin tail any day LOL. Oh and the holes are all cut quite nicely, looks like SAB has already made the necessary changes. Can't wait to get it in the air! Cris

I agree
Enjoying the build. The boom is a big hunk of carbon fiber and a lot of work for $70.

I personally bought the Goblin because it seemed to fly very well and looked to be durable and easy to work on with some innovative approaches. But for the hardcorde modellers out there, why not just spray a coat or two of clearcoat on your boom and skids if it's that important to have a gloss finish to it.

SAB's not clear coating the boom may be a weight saving measure. When you clear coat the "boom" you are adding weight at a far distance from the CG. This could cause a problem with getting the CG right. I'm sure SAB had a good reason to not clear coat beyond the minimal cost of doing so.
