Default A-109 Coast Guard trex 450 6s 4 Blade head Help...

Hey guys I'm having some trouble with my Copter X 4 Blade head on my trex 450 with 6s
And I'm running the stock 121t main gear and a 9t on the 1700kv motor. With a YEP45 ESC

Well I go to pop it up in the air and at first it does OK but then it starts to freak out on me
And I'm using the skinny plastic black blades that came with the head from eBay...

And I'm wondering if those blades have something to do with it???

I really did a fast setup on my AR7200BX
And But when I spool up the heli... The blades track perfect...

So I think I'm gonna sell the whole head and blades and just go with 2 blades... Cause I don't wanna put it in my A-109 and then have it take a nasty dirt nap... LOL

I just think that I'm not ready for the mechanical setup of a four-blade head...
And dam it hurts so bad cause it looks so Cool

Any advice.. Or anyone need a 4 Blade head... Lol...

IM using a 4 blade with the AR7200BX.
and it flys great. did you balance the blades?
i balanced my in pairs and number them so i can
install them corectly. as one pair facing each other..
other than that maybe something else is off.

Ya I did balance them.. And all 4 are the same
I just wanna get it flying right so I am put it into my Fuselage...

So I might just go to an EFL FBL head unit with 2 blades. That I know I can setup very well...

Cause I could not get a light at the 6° step on my AR7200BX and so maybe I need to just get back on the horse and get this figured out
Cause I wanna achieve the challenge..

I crave for it.... That's why I build and fly them... Lol. And not planks or cars.. Even though I have both just for a good time with my son..

Any advice on TC and PC settings that you are using that I can get a base of. Thanks Bro for all your help...

O and are you using those skinny black plastic blades that came with the Head???

If they are anything like the skinny black "composite" scale blades made by TF Model and sold by RCA and others, they are probably dreadful.

I tried some 600mm size, and they flexed something fierce, even though they appeared to be tracking OK. Dreadful in FF.

Just try it with two pairs of standard 450 blades, and see how it flies. All 4 blades don't need to be perfectly balanced - as long as each pair is balanced, it should be fine.

How much are you throttling back or governing the motor because that setup is a bit fast for a 4 blade scalie;

RPM = 1700 x 22.2 x 0.9 x 9T / 121T = 2526rpm at 100% towards the end of the flight. My guess is that you would want to be close to 2000rpm with a 4 blade 450, which means governing to around 80%.

Use a set rpm governor, not TC. A constant headspeed is much better than variable, and even a flat TC doesn't give a constant speed because the lipo voltage drops from 4.2 to around 3.8V per cell so speed will drop by about 10% even with a flat TC.

Set pitch to get around -4° at low stick, and about 10-12° at high stick, and linear in between - you only need 2 points, no need to make it more complex. You should get around +4° at midstick.

Hey Colin thanks for the chime in brotha..

Ya I also think the blades are crap....

And I also need to go back and redo my gyro setup. In the AR7200BX...

But I'm not using governor cause I don't know how to set it up on my YEP45 ESC...

So is it possible that you can give me the TC and PC number points to put on my DX8...

Any help is greatly appreciated.. And for sure from you

Thanks brotha.. And about the head speed..
I put active freewheeling on...

Well I can't give you PC points because they depend on your mechanical pitch setup. Aim for what I said above. The actual points are irrelevant - the actual pitch measurement in degrees is the important part.

If you can't use governor, then try something like this as a starting point.

N= 0, 70, 80, 80, 80
ST1 = 80, 80, 80
ST2 = 85, 85, 85

You can tweak them up and down from there.

Well I got my Blades in and now. I just gotta find the time to really sit down and work on it and get this heli goin... Cause dam I wanna put her dress on her so bad... LOL...

But it has to be perfect before I go and throw it into the Fuselage. Cause once it's in... I won't be able to get to anything as far as setup wise.. I.e. gyro....

But I got my Blades and one pair as some blemishes on them that looks like they were sanded at the factory for balance maybe....
So I sent an email to the vendor asking for a new set... Cause they look like

But I can still use them to setup the bird...
