Default Blade 500X Discontinued?

If it is discontinued i hope they bring out a v2. I love my 500x. It definitely has a place in the market at the right price!

So, any official word in regards to the 500X standing in the blade line?

Is it being discontinued or no?

It is discontinued. It's being liquidated.

So the 450x and the NCPX are being discontinued as well? Or are you making an assumption?

The 500X used to be on Amazon through five different sellers, including HH. But, it's disappeared from Amazon recently.

I would love to see the 500x return as with 500mm blades and an airframe that takes standard servos. Of course, I wouldn't buy one unless it came in a pro kit with an airframe only option.

Isn't the 550x everything you just mentioned?

Ok, I guess the 550x actually does swing 550mm blades. I thought they were only 500... my mistake. Looks like the 550x is discontinued as well.

I still maintain a 425mm bladed heli has it's place in the market
A 500mm bladed heli is too close in the market to the 550x

Better not be, I just ordered one on Wednesday. Haven't heard about backorders or uber deals so I'm pretty sure the 550 is going to be around for a while yet.

This version included the old Eflite 130 amp esc and was discontinued quite a long time ago. The rest of the 550x kit and combo prices have not been discounted (been the same for last few months). HH always shows a higher reg price just to make you feel you are getting a great deal, lol!.

Cheers,

I have been thinking about getting one of these for a while now. Especially since the price is what it is now. It is a lot of bang for the buck. It seems like the 500x and the 500 3D does not get that much attention.(not much available in the after market either) Maybe because the pricing was to high. Maybe it will get dropped, but I think with the 12t pinion it will fill my needs perfectly.

I found threads reporting the price drop of the 500x as far back as July of last year... few people mentioned that it had dropped to $499?

This is from Sept...
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?p=5307227

500 3D blades are being blown out at $15-$17 each. The FBL blades are not.

Perhaps the $499 price is just a new lower price like the $99 nano. I have no idea. I don't particularly care either way.

I have 500 3D converted to FBL with AR7200BX with 12t seems to have plenty power for me may not need the 13t I bought. I like it so much that bought a 500x today can't bet the price.

Sorry for the late response. Not an assumption. I buy from HH's dealer website and it's been classified as LIQ (liquidated). My sales rep has also confirmed it's been discontinued. The other 2 you mention have not been based on the system. Plus I doubt they would just introduce a brushless system for the nano to discontinue it a month or two later. Price drops are not always related to products being discontinued. Usually means the supplier has an over abundance of product on their shelf and have to move it. They lower the price to free up some cash to put towards other bills, projects, etc. Remember when they lowered the 450 3D to 299.99? It's back to 349.99. I'm not happy about it either as I have a 500x with countless hop-ups.

Well, the 500x has been at $499 since last July apparently. A few of the combined 500 3D/x parts are on closeout, but not all of them. The FBL blades are still $58. Typical price for Blade liquidations are 40%-50% of MSRP. Look at the MQX when it was $49.95, the MSRX at $40, MCPX at $79 and even the Red Bull 130x $129. Those were sold at liquidation prices. I'm not saying you're wrong, but they haven't completely pulled the plug yet... when you see them go below $399, that would be their typical liquidation price. If they ever go 40% of MSRP, I'll get another... maybe even two more.

So I called HH last week and asked them if the 500X was discontinued. I directly asked if it was a problem helicopter that they wanted to get out from under. The response I got was that the 500 occupied a unique nitch that really did not have a market. Guys moving up from a 450 were more likely to go to a 600 or 700. That has left sales for the 500 slow. The $499 price was aimed at bring visibility to the model. So again I asked if it was dicontimued and was told no. I left that call not feeling very confidant that it was not actually discontinued. Why would they keep a product that had no market. I decided to buy one anyway (two actually). I really like the looks and size of this model. If I find it is discontinued, I will have to really stock up on parts (more than I already have..ha ha). I asked about product support for discontinued items and was told that they usually support them with parts for two years. That is consistent with what both my LHS said.

My local big-time Blade dealer just started carrying the 500x a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea if he plans on stocking parts as well.

If it's discontinued or not, I don't really care. But I would like to grab a couple if they ever drop the price under $400.

Every time Blade liquidates an item, once it's out of stock on the HH website, prices generally tend to rebound back up... the mcpx is probably the only exception. You can sell a NIB MQX or MSRX for more than their closeout prices, fwiw.
