Flat Bottom Blades for 450 Size?

I picked up some Plastiblade flat bottomed blades thinking it would give me longer flight times. I was flying my 450 with a fiberglass Bell 206 fuse and 302mm stock Trex woodies with no problems, I just thought flat bottom would be better for scale flight. The flat bottom blades are 325mm and heavy plastic. They made my ESC thermal and quit abruptly, luckily I was hovering just above the ground when it happened. These plastic blades also have a sickeningly squishy feel in flight and make a nasty sound with even the slightest negative pitch.

So not only did they not give longer flight times, they actually drew more current.

Is it the extra weight and length that put more load on the ESC (using same pinion as the 302s)?

With flat bottom blades, what angle should they be at mid collective stick?

Where can I get nicer flatties than Plastiblades?

get a set of these. i added over 4 min to my flight times on a 450 with an md500 fuse. very nice quality. german made.

they are broader blades too. most are 35 mm these are 41mm. i reduced my headspeed, allready low at 2100 down to 1900 with no problems. i was able to increase the gain on my beastx also. i had a wobble with the old blades and went to new spin blades and the wobble was gone. i increased the gain till i got the wobble and then reduced it slightly until gone. it flys really nice now. good luck.
