Default KDE Head Install

Hey fellow Synergy flyer's ,

I installed a KDE head on my Synergy E7 today, my real attraction to this head was the head block mounted washout arms. This head mounts even lower than the lowest position on the stock head block. As usual for KDE the finish is beautiful and it went together with no issues. The manual called for 63-65mm blade grip links but looking back now I think I could have gone with slightly longer. I should be able to get a few flights on it tomorrow, I will report back.

Here is a link: http://www.kdedirect.com/SE67MRHFB.html

Main Blades are Matt Black 700mm Spin Blades and Radix 110mm Tail Blades

Let us know how she flies. I am curious if the rolls are still axial. Matt said he mounted the head where he did to get axial control on the aileron.

I really prefer the arms built into the headblock too. No phasing to be adjusted.

I managed to get two flights on it yesterday and another two flights today. The most noticeable difference is how tight the rolls are. Coming from the middle hole on the stock head it is a huge difference. Overall combined with the fact that this head looks great and has build in phasing makes it a nice part for $75 but defiantly not needed.

Coming from a machine with a much lower head (TDR), this certainly feels better than stock.

Yeah. After hearing his report on the axial rolls, I will probably order one. 75 isn't bad when you price the stock ones. This is by no means a needed upgrade but I do like heads that are lower and have built in phasing.

How is 75 better than 45? It's wrong because, math.

Especially when there is nothing wrong with the stock one.

This head probably isn't for you you should keep your machine stock. For the rest of you though, this head is really nice if you can afford the extra $30.

I think I know what he was trying to say. One of the laws of physics states that when torque is applied to an object in free space that object rotates around its center of gravity. So, if you can place the vertical center of gravity on the boom line, you will have a better chance of producing axial looking rolls. The E7 has those three head mount positions so you can shift the vertical CG by moving the head and maintain your vertical CG on the boom line with different weight batteries.

Well what I meant was Matt Botos took some criticism for the head being so high when this bird was designed to be FBL. His answer to that was that he mounted the head where it is to get the cg right and keep the rolls axial. I love the way the bird flies stock. The rolls are tight, well as tight as my skills can keep them . I am considering this head because I like the lower profile look it gives the bird but I wanted to know how it effected the flight characteristics. Now that I have heard evidence that the lower profile head doesn't hurt the performance or flight characteristics I am interested. I am not one to make un-needed upgrades to anything. Matt did a fantastic job on this heli. But if I can make a change based in my personal preference to a lower head look without sacrificing performance, I am considering it.

I hope that explains my comments.

That's much clearer.

Upvote for typing all that on your iPhone.
