Default Hatori Confusion

It's been a rocky month for Hatori Fans. Hatori Japan stopped production of 3D pipes for the OS 105 (#2105 105FS-3D SB-22FH) and OS 120 (#2123 120FS-3D SB-23FH) engines, and RC Japan mistakenly announced that Hatori was going out of business. That's been cleared up in various threads on HF and RR: Hatori Japan and Hatori USA are alive and well.

It looks like Hatori is now producing a new, different pipe for the OS 105. It doesn't appear on the Hatori Japan or Hatori USA websites (yet?), but Amain has started selling the "Hatori SAB-22".

http://www.amain.com/rc-helicopters/...tsab22/p450414

The box is now blue, and has a HatoriUSA label. On the label it says SAB-22FH-3D (which is confusingly close to the old model number). Description says it's the same as the SB-22FH, except notice it's 1-piece, it no longer has the Header/Grommet/O-ring setup.

I wish someone from Hatori Marketing would clear up all the confusion, they're not managing their brand perception very well

Which looks just like the OS Powerboost pipe.

Are they possibly outsourcing the pipes for the OS105 and YS120 from OS to fill the void?

Well from what I understand he wants to retire. And when he does that will be an issue. As for the hard mount pipe. No THANKS.

Supposedly the OS pipe is the M studio one.

Yea, to me it looks obvious it's not made by hatori and is just a re-branded os powerboost pipe.

I wrote Hatoriusa to inquire about the pipe for 105.

This is their reply,
"Thank for your interest in hatori mufflers‎. We have a Japanese made replacement for the 105. Lots of power. Unfortunately, the hat original will not be brought back
The cost for the 45 mm diameter went up so high Hatoriwould have had to buy 4 year supply of raw material‎. That's why he discontinued the 105 and the YS120"

I'm assuming the 45mm is the internal diameter size.

Too bad that is the case as I really like the style that was discontinued.

I found out it is just a re-branded OS power boost pipe. It's sad that Hatori has come out saying they have a new pipe for the 105 when all they did was re-brand the OS pipe. On top of that it's not even a soft mount pipe :-(

You need the 955 header from this page. The bolt pattern on the OS is different than the YS. Both pipes are the same. However, the YS pipe does not have a pressure nipple. If your using a non-regulated OS you would need to drill and tap the muffler for a pressure nipple. http://www.hatoriusa.com/?page_id=7

Anyone know where to small source the silicone grommets? Everyone seems to be out of stock of the #175. Plenty of #185 but they are huge in comparison.

Thanks.
