A little update on my Rave 450. She's 3.5 years old and still in business. Even the canopy is stock one, despite of several crashes. This year I converted the Rave to FBL and now she flies much better then before.

Current setup is:
4S with Castle Phoenix 45 and Next-D 2221-10 motor @14T
350mm regular Radix blades (work good on FBL, even at top speed),
Trex 450 pro tail blades ( stock blades are crashed ),
Microbeast with separate Spectrum AR6100 receiver
Futaba 9257 on tail with stepdown
MSK DS92A+ on cyclic (were Hitecs 5065MG but burned out)
She flies with 2900-3000 governed.

And several pictures

I love the presence of a rave in the air. It looks and flies larger than any other 700, but still as fast and agile as anything. 710's make so much noise

Prezkit as in Bizkit! I graduated in '94. Flew RC there before we had a field, in fact me and a buddy were on the board of the club that moved on to campus in about '93 or so... Before that, we used to fly helis on the soccer field... Wow, that was a long time ago!

Good luck on the CFI-H!

Ah, nice! I've flown at the little dirt strip before, but generally fly at the soccer field. If I was electric only, maybe more often. But a lot of those guys are afraid of helicopters anyways...haha. Good guys, just set in their ways with plankers.

There's a nice open grass area over at one of the parks surrounding Watson Lake that I like, as well. Unfortunately, don't fly (RC) as often as I'd like. Usually lucky to get a couple of flights in per week. CFI keeps my super busy...

BTW, what and where are you flying these days?

Well I was 'conditioned' at Riddle against Airbus... among other things. When you have to make house payments and feed a family, you'd fly an Aircoupe. It's a job.

Besides the Airbus is a nice airplane doing transcons. The flight deck is like a condo compared to a 737... those feel like phonebooths!

My wife's family is in the San Diego area and we have talked about coming down for a few days... She puts in time with the family, I fly my butt off! Sounds fair right?

Should have the electric ENV ready by then...

Absolutely understandable! And, 'conditioned & Boeing' is an accurate statement with this place, lol. I was just bustin' your chops, brutha! haha

Hopefully you'll find the time to make it to the FF. And...if you've got family in the area, what better an excuse!?

You're gonna love the E-ENV. Mine started out life in that configuration, then I really missed the nitro. Converted it...then picked up a Ballistic not too long ago. Best of both worlds! 'Best' part...I hardly get to fly either one of them, lol. Definitely looking forward to San Diego!

I LOVE my nitro ENV... I realize I'm biased, but every time I fly it, I set it on the table when I'm done and look at it and just say, "wow". I know, I'm a dork.

The original plan was to have two nitros, but I thought I would mix it up and make one electric. I enjoy both, so I'm looking forward to getting it in the air. At our field nitro is more convenient because we don't have power (unless you bring a gen). So when I get the chance to go flying, nitro is better because I can fuel/fly/fuel/fly/fuel/fly etc...

HF fun fly is definitely on the list, hopefully it will work out.

ERAU is a good school, as you know, you'll get a lot out of it... but don't buy into EVERYTHING they are selling. Take it with a grain of salt and you'll be much better off when you get out. Those who don't... well let's just say you can pick them out of a crowd fairly easily... and not in a good way!

Hope to see your Ballistic in the fall!

I'm guilty of the same thing...more often than not, lol. Get done with a flight, and gawk a bit They are great machines. And, I ended up with one of each more or less for the same reasons you did. I stand by my decision...the setup works.

It's funny that you mention some of the things you do about Riddle and some of those "people in the crowd"...lol. Neon sign. Nuff said Fortunately, I didn't end up there right out of high school. Did 6 years in the Navy. Everyday on campus is interesting, lol.

Sounds good! Look forward to the event and hope to see you there! Only 2 more months...should fly by. Haven't been to an event in far too long...

Yeah I can see that. We had a lot of "Top Gun" wanna-bes when I was there, laughable even then. I was a punk too, to a much lesser extent, but luckily I got straightened out pretty quickly in the real world.

Best quote I heard from a friend of mine (whos favorite pasttime was hazing me about my ERAU attendance) describing Riddle grads was, "... they [Riddle grads] can tell you how wide and long a centerline stripe is, how long the space is in between the stripes... But they can't tell you what it's used for..." Funny

I'll be ordering servos for my electric ENV in about a week. Those are the last components I really need, so I should have it flying by the end of August. Wife bought me a Canomod for Christmas that hasn't seen the light of day yet, tragic I know, so I better get on it!
