Default What is your favorite battery for weight vs. flight time

I puffed up one of my nano-tech 5000s 35-70C. So I need to pick up another flight pack. The 5000s seem very heavy and I fly for 7-8 minutes no problem. I'm thinking about trying something in the lighter 4000-4500 size range with a high enough C rating to keep up.

Does anyone have any favorite pack sizes that work well for the X7?

750g for a 5300mAh battery? That seems pretty light for such a big pack. I was hoping to get under 700g and really lighten up but thats better than the 800g packs I'm running. Seems like there is often a sweet spot where you get better performance with lighter packs. I just don't know where that is for this heli, or 700 electrics in general.

Interesting. I have a set of the same Gens ace packs from my last heli. I might have to dust them off and give them another try.

I had some power troubles with them at first and thought that the packs might not have enough current delivery for the 700. In hind sight my problems were some bad settings in the castle ESC. On paper the 4000s should work I think. I see peaks in my datalogs of about 80 amps and thats well within the continuous rating for the Gens Aces.

I made a flight with the gens ace 4000s today. These are the 25C variety. And they were just great today. I flew almost 5 minutes without a hiccup and the helicopter did feel light and snappy even at my loping 2000 rpm headspeed. I think I made some comments earlier that these packs were too small. But they did perform OK today. I'll have to get a look at the logs, but everything seemed just fine power wise. My previous power sag issues with the 4000s were obviously not entirely due to the smallish batteries. I am now running my low voltage cut at 3.0 volts, and I have always turned off the overcurrent cut. I'm taking precautions to dipping voltage, but I never felt anything that I would call a bog. So I think these packs are really up to the task for my type of flying. I'm putting them back in use.
