Default Initialization issue.....what happened?

Went to fly my Protos 500 with the 60a esc, robird fbl running gov from fbl, and specktrum sats today and after initialization I am am getting g a constant 5 beebs. Never had a problem before. Last week I decided to make sure all my birds failsafes were setup correctly by running up helicopters and shutting of transmitter as well as shutting off transmitter at zero throttle to make sure I had no spool up. This was my first attempt flying after doing this. Other two birds were fine.

Any help is appreciated!

What brand ESC? Also check the connection going from the ESC to the FBL unit. Mine had an issue recently where it wouldn't spool up and it was because the plug came loose.

Sounds like the ESC is in programming mode. Google the manual of that ESC. Could it be that you connected the battery with the throttle all the way up?

Or Maybe you fiddled with the transmitter while setting up fail safe and throttle was at a different value when binding, possibly outside of the throttle end points you taught the ESC.

The list of error codes says "5 Beeps/flashes: Receiver signals failed". Seems strange as I have had this error when I used a YGE but I also had "6 Beeps/flashes: start up failed". And it turned out I never had an issue with Receiver Signals Failed. I do not think it is in programming mode.

If the YGE sees a rx issue during its power cycle, it will not clear the code until you clear the code out of the esc after this! It will continue to give you the 5 over and over. Either you do the full throttle during initialization routine, or hit it with the prog card. They make sure you address the signal loss issue and know about it before the esc will let you fly here. Safety guys! LMH

I am wandering if I did this when checking my fail safe....did it somehow sense signal loss. Seems strange but will do a reset and report back. All was fine until I did this check.

The ESC pretty much lost its mind. The brake was activated and startup speed went to heli middle which is not where it was suppose to be using the robird startup. All seems well now.

Maybe it did go into program mode and defaulted. Or you went high stick or 100% th on idle up which would have st throttle stick limits and also defaulted.

Glad you got things in order.
