Was almost blinded by stupidity yesterday. Been windy as hell the past few days so I've just been taking it easy flying in the apt complex since there aren't any large areas of grass to fly over just pavement and concrete.
Was hovering right in front of myself at head level looking things over, a in flight check I guess lol. Anyways something about the way this place is built we get a random violent gust of wind channeled through once in a while and of course one hits right when the bl is 2-3' in front of my face. Blows it straight at my face so i duck just in time but now it's behind me out of site. I give some throttle to try and give it altitude so I can find it before it crashes. Look up nothing, behind nothing, look left and see it just as it smacks a little tree stump in a small grassy spot. SMACK!! The telltale sound of a boomstrike.. Lucky for me blade shrink tubes the wires on their solid booms as the blades hit right where the wires are on the top of the boom. Cut the tube but spared the wires. Long drawn out story short, don't fly upwind of yourself even with a lil micro. Even if you don't hurt your face, you might hurt your heli. I got lucky and no real damage to either of us, but could have easily cut my face, tail wires or both lol... |

The Spawn Flies Again!!
Yay!!!!!
Bad BL motor kit. Put the stock motor back in. No issues!!! I do have to get a new set of stretched blades. I had modified a set of bullets that fits the mCPX. Apparently I trimmed a little too much off the end of the blade so I would have clearance for the feathering shaft nut. The BL motor was running WFO and threw one of the blades into the garage door. Damn glad it didn't hit me, 'cause it left a dent in the door.

Maybe we should start flying with full face motorcycle helmets lol..
Had a HH bl kit on my first nano, killed it in 2 weeks. Started to lose power till it was weaker than the stock motor. Cranked alot of 45c packs through it as fast as I could charge em but still, bl motors are supposed to be able to handle that no prob. |
