Default Vision 50 Electric - build & maiden flights

Hi all,
I have recently received a Vision 50 Electric kit from ElyQ and thought I could share some build photos and flight movie as the machine is just awesome

The setup is:

3x DS 610 6v
1x DS 650 6v
BeastX 3.08
CC ICE2 HV 80
600MX 510kv
600 MM 600D blades
12t pinion/ 113t main gear (stock)
All gears are M1, including tail.

I will also try Scorpion 4035-630kv, just waiting for a proper pinion (11t I think)

ElyQ supplies 12t/5mm,13t/5mm and 12t/6mm pinions in the kit, which is very nice
Also the main gear changed from V50c to a more beefy one, also 113t - better for electric motor RPM range.

The build is generally very nice, no problems at all, also some great improvements - we got a new main head block - with swashdriver, new pitch links (3mm), new ball links (beefier, easy to screw in), new main gear. BTW - the head is supplied separately as in v90c - I've got an FBL version

Maidened the bird yesterday, first and second flight below - didn't have castlelink yet so I used governor simple mode for that flights (I will get one today and use SetRPM).

tomd27858: Thank you

wifeorheli?: 12s 3700 mah 35c, but I am going to get something smaller like 3000-3300 mah.

Currently about 2000 rpm on the head, I am going to try 14t pinion for 2350rpm governed and a Scorpion 4035-630kv with 11t, also 2350 governed. I will post results in this thread so stay tuned

I didnt think a ice2 80hv would handle 12s setup i though that was like atleast a 100hv

Actually, as far as I know, the current goes down when you go to higher voltages, eg. for the same power (Watts) you need smaller current in 12s setup than in 10s setup.

ICE2 HV can handle 80A 12s continuously, with peaks up to 140A, while 600MX 510kv motor can take 75A continuously with some peaks to 110A maybe (currently my log shows max amps at 40 A, so I go higher with the headspeed to make it work harder, so we have some margin here.
Bert Kamerrer uses 80HV for his T-rex 700E, also with 510kv motor but 700-size.

Also as for the after-flight checks - engine is cool, batteries are cool, ESC shows 30 degrees C in log (ambient temp here now is sth about -3 to +5 degrees).

I have changed motor to Scorpion 4035-630 and 12t pinion, which allowed to set up SetRPM in castle to 1900/2200/2350 (72/86/89 % of throttle according to castlelink info). The tests after lunch

The bird flies like a bullet now!!!!

The performance is AWESOME with Scorpion 4035-630, 12T governed to 2350 rpm - really, this thing is a killer, it flies like my light 450pro (light glass frame, beastx+satellite, scorpion 2221-08. 14t, 65c batts)

It was very windy and freezing cold (-2 degrees C), also the end of the day so the flight in the movie isn't too interesting as my hands almost stopped listening to me (mostly pushing full collective to test the gov and the power output). I will post the link as soon as uploading is done.

I must put some time into setting up the tail in rate mode and tune revo mixing afterwards in BeastX, as now it is almost everywhere but not where I would want it to Also cyclic is a bit too much for me LOL

Yes all Castles do. But running a 80hv on 12s is to close to its top end headroom. Really you need 120a hv esc for 600 + sized birds especially if you run things like the internal gov of say a vbar. The amp spikes are pretty massive. That said the 120 HV Castles still seem to be burning up.

Anyway... Where can i buy this bird? I cant find kits for sale.

To program the Castle on the PC you need Castle Link. Then you can use the logging feature and setup all the settings from the PC. As for lipos check out GensAce lipos from Hobbypartz. Very very good lipos at a very reasonable price. GL!
