Unhappy Moved to US from Europe - Trex 250 stolen in mail

Hi fellow Heli-lovers,

I moved to the US for work, coming from Holland. My GF sent my trex250 to me by parcel mail. Guess what? Only a few parts arrived... I took part of the heli apart, I got the main frame + electronics and the tail, but the main shaft & rotorhead were in a box with all the tools and spare parts, and that box is gone!! Also, my two chargers are gone. Buying all new will cost me around 250-300 dollars for sure! I only got the main frame/electronics and tail

Funny thing is, the volume got replaced by air-bags. Also I found two sets of flip-flops which were definitely not sent to me! Wth?! Someone opened my parcel and replaced stuff. Why??

Man I'm really furious, I contacted the Dutch mail service, as I payed them and they should make sure it gets here properly. What do you guys/girls think about this? I'm really missing the fun of flying helis right now...

So you got the box and it was empty? That is scary not being able to trust the mail service. Most people who do stuff like that don't do it just once, so eventually they will get caught. Won't do you any good though.

Could you have insured it?

Shes still your gf right? The flipflop thing sounds like she did it no offense. Here in the USA when people steal things they dont replace it with random objects, because there is no point in doing that.

They probably did that so it would still be the same weight. A guy at my work was able to find out where his laptop got stolen in the mail by the change in weight at a specific shipping location. It helps narrow down where it actually got stolen in route. Thats why they most likely added objects so that there was no discrepancy in the weight of the package.

Thanks for your support guys. They didn't do the flipflops for the weight I'm sure, because apart from the heli there were also 10 books in the package... Also gone. Wonder what they will do with that, it were 10 copies of my thesis that I wanted to give to some people at my work...

The Dutch post office replied they couldn't do anything because it wasn't insured. They should have told me these risks when my gf sent the package! Well, nothing to do about it now...

Anyways, I think this is a time to upgrade. Ordering the missing parts will be about 200 dollars, a new bare kit is also 200. I think I'd rather invest in a 450 now, bigger flies a bit better than the tiny 250. Also a good time to upgrade to flybarless, but I heard some negative stories about the Align 3G system: people had to fill the gyro component with glue to prevent rattling of the compontens. Is this still true? Can't find anything on the forum about that. Otherwise I'll go for the 450 pro 3GX.

Get the 3GX at a minimum, the older 3G unit is not up to standard for FBL these days. That said plenty of people upgrade the 3GX as well.

Do you have room to fly a 500. It is not that much more money and it will keep you entertained for a lot longer than a 450. If you go FBL the ar7200bx is a great deal. Easy to setup and you dont have to buy a seperate reciever. 450's are nice though. You can fly them almost anywhere.

500 for sure. while the 450 can be alot of fun, you will want to upgrade again soon after. my 450 hasn't moved in over 3 months.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips! As you may see in my footer, I already have a trex 500 (flybarred), but it is in Holland right now. I actually ended up using my 250 a lot more than the 500, simply because you can take it to the park and fly it, and there was simply not enough room to do that with a 500. Here in the US, at least where I live there is a park that has much more open space then I used to have in Holland, and it is practically in my backyard so I'm pretty sure about the size of heli I want

Just for simplicity, I'll go for the 450 pro 3GX combo kit. I may always upgrade later, and maybe then use the FBL 3GX system in my 250, then I would just need the FBL rotorhead. Until that time, my beloved 250 will be in my personal heli museum

Wouldn't be surprised if it got opened at Customs and someone there was liking some of what they saw.
