another question. what's the best way to keep the 2bolts that screw into the top of the fan that holds the bushing with the plastic "hat" to connect the clutch to the fan? mine keep coming loose (3rd time). I replaced the bolts and cleaned the fan and bolts and used lock tight. fwiw I'm using a hanson g26 pro plus engine

"Standard Blue" (Medium strength like Loctite 242 or 2033) should be adequate. I think that stuff is good to 150C so unless your clutch is slipping and generating a lot of heat, those bolts should hold.

I used 242 when building the turbine and haven't had an issue, even with the gas producer blowing +/- 450C gasses into the free turbine in the gearbox.

+1 on what Skiddz said. I've used 242 for years with no problems. A couple of other things come to mind to check. Sorry if this is too blatantly obvious but be sure the clutch full engages the bushings on the cooling fan and that the fan and clutch are perfectly parallel to each other. If they are tilted relative to each other, that wouldn't help and it doesn't take much

Good luck,
Steve R..

Better to use a 5mm to 4mm insert in the blade root.

We DO NOT recommend drilling out the blade grips to 5 mm. It's unnecessary.

You can make your own from brass tube stock, or we sell them.

Which part is stripping out? Ensure the 12mm setscrew is centered between the Battery Tray Spacer and the front mount. Too much on one side leaves too little on the other...

Are you losing that canopy thumbscrew? During flight maybe? And does the opposite side seem overly tight?

I am losing it during flight but when I replace it I notice that all the threads are gone. no the other side isn't overly tight but I do make it pretty snug so the dont back out from vibes or what ever.

I suspect you may have a high freq vibration, which can either cause the thumbscrew to over tighten, or loosen, in flight, in both cases wearing out the threads...

Tail rotor and engine are the two high RPM spots in a heli.. I'd start there.

Engine/main drive train (clutch, bell) are the makers of high freq's...

Balance and straightness are a prerequisite, but engine tuning is the common culprit, too lean and high freq's result.
