Master CP Brushless Setups

How's your brushless conversion going? What's the setup? Post here -there's a lot of interest.

Im intrested to know as well even though I should be a long ways away from wearing out my motor.

Yes, with the current weather here, my motor will last a very long time, too. But most brushless converts didn't bother to wait for the stock motor to wear out!

With walkera it may not be as far off as you think .

Castle 25 governed @ 4000rpm, 4400rpm
hitec 5055mg servos
hyperion hs2213-3585kv motor may actually be too powerful may end up using the motor from my x2 in the MasterCP and putting this motor in the X2 (if it will fit...it's kinda tall)

Makes the MasterCP fly a lot better imo. MasterCP will never be a great flier but for what it is I still consider it a great bargain.

How does the stock headspeed compare with your brushless setup? Does it fly better because of increased HS?

Let us know how the other motor works out.

my brushless setup is MUCH stronger than stock. the heli still feels heavy but it is much easier to flip it and toss it around a bit. I am not an advanced pilot though so my skillset is limited.....it's a work in progress

Castle 25 governed @ 4000rpm
hitec 5055mg servos turnigy main motor 2627-3800 turnigy tail motor 1811-2000 The brushless set ups were both kits off of ebay . The main kit consisted of motor and converter and works very well . The tail kit was complete but lags in flight witch causes tail wags if gyro gain is set above 55 . The instructions says to set up a program mix in radio between throttle and rudder channel to help tail hold . At this point i would not recommend the tail kit . I,m still playing with program mix to make tail at least as good as it was brushed .

I got a couple batteries thru it yesterday in the driveway at home and i finally got it to quite turning ccw . A program mix in transmitter between throttle and rudder does not work if your running in governor mode . You have to set mix between pitch and rudder once this was done than tail holds . You still cant go above 55 percent on gyro in transmitter are you will have bad tail wags . It tells you this in the instructions but i found out about it in a hover . Having to turn gain numbers down this far to stop the wags means that gains are also low on cylic .I will say this much if i had to do it over i would skip the brushless tail and look for a better quality brushed motor for the tail which is the next option if this brushless set up doesn't pan out .If weather permits i will get some real flights this weekend and report back on sunday .

Just got back from flying and the brushless tail set up is . Im going back to brushed tail . Heli went in to spins and crashed into a tree at take off .

Heli wanting to spin might indicate the tail motor's rpm is too slow.
If tail holds but not well maybe the motor can't change rpm fast enough. An outrunner is not as good at speed changes.

Yea i agree there is to much delay between needing rudder and having it . Im going back to brushed tail and i think i will change tail motor often . Im also wondering if there is a better quality motor available besides walkera .

Sorry about your crash...
Maybe walkera will relese some double brushless kit, same like the one for the genius cp.
They improved the initial servos with metal geared ones also. Hopefully considering the success of the mcp they will speed up the process

Yea they may release something but it will probally be crap . There double brushless kit for the mini cp was crap also . I think the thing to do is replace tail motor often and stay brushed .

I would like to let everyone know that in the instructions for the brushless tail kit that it says range for gyro is up to 54 on gyro screen not 55 like i reported . When i crashed i was at 55 and am being told that 54 is the highest one should go . Also this kit was put on a new heli so whos to say that problem was not walkera and there receiver . I just wanted to add this info and say others may have better results than i .

Hi Fletcher, try setting Gyro Sensor in Radio to 53.5 and Set Program Mix to:

FUNCTION MENU:
Program Mix: (Select Curve): Master: set to Throttle
Slave: set to Rudder
L= -65, 1= -70, 2= -75, M= -80, 3= -85, 4= -90, H= - 95
Some radios like the Devo 10 have Program Mix and also Tail Curve under the Function Menu. Since we use Program Mix; just set all the values in the Tail Curve to "0"

Also on the receiver Aileron and Elevator gyros, just dial in any stability setting you prefer because they are independent from tail.


I think you will be surprised how well it works.

I will give it another try when i get replacement parts . Are you the maker of this kit ?

Yes, I am the maker of the kit. Your radio numbers in the Program Mix may vary a little but those should get you close to what is needed.
