Hi everyone, I'm waiting on the arrival of my new bird today . I am getting a V Bar silver line, castle creation 120 HV, a complete set of torq servos to make this heli fly.
My question to all you great X50e owners is will 2 6 cell 5000 mah fit this heli. I know that many of you use a 8-10 cell set up. Thank you all for posting on this heli to help me make my decision on this awesome purchase.

While 2x6s5000 packs will fit they will be too heavy imho. those packs are more for 700 sized e-heli's. If you want to go 12s I suggest you look at a max of 2x6s4000 packs, and preferably lighter 3300-3600's.

Cheers,
TomC

Congrats man! Good luck with it. I'm wanting one but don't know if I'll be happy with the TT tail. I know they are more efficient and all but I just don't need any extra expense in the unlucky event of a crash.

Good choice on the X50E. I'm flying 2 6s 3350 mah packs. I get about 13 minutes of flight time just hovering. Good luck.

I know 3700 Revolectrix packs fit quite well. Aim for 560KV on the motor and the stock pinion (15t) should be fine for Sport-3D flying. I'm running the Turnigy SK3 T700 560KV motor and it's fantastic for the price. (I believe TomC also uses this motor) Otherwise I'd run a Scorpion 4035-560. Don't overtighten any of the grub screws or you'll run the risk of stripping some of the alloy parts. A great way to ensure that the pin stays in on the tail gear is to heatshrink over it so that even if the grubscrew backs out, the pin will stay in place. Throw some photos up when you're done so we can see

I was using a Quantum 4125-560 on 12s, using 6s 3000mah packs. It was good for 4 1/2 to 5 min. of my flying. No need to go beyond 2150 rpm on headspeed, as it's just ridiculous power.....but it's sure fun! Good luck with your X50E....one of the best heli's I've ever owned and flown.

Thanks to every one with such valuable input. I just picked it up from the Hobby shop. Apparently the Kit that was ordered came with a motor. Probably not the greatest of motors but for now it will do. I think I will go with a 10 cell power source as well. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Once again thank you for all your valuable input I appreciate you all giving me some tips and suggestions. Please don't stop and God bless. Once again thank you. Fil

Congrats, I'm sure you are going to love it.

The kit that comes with a TT motor is 630kv I believe so 10s with the 15t pinion or 12s with the 13t pinion should work very well.

Cheers,
TomC

Good stuff. As far as packs go I'm running Zippy 4000mAh packs and Thunder Power 5000mAh packs. Even with the 4000s, I'm still getting 6 mins of sport and light 3D flying.

Default Tragedy struck

Hi Guys is was putting my main rotor head together and decided to check to make sure that factory put loctite on metal swashplate and the linkage ball broke off. I'm sad now. Every Rc vehicle I ever built I always check to see if factory assembled parts have loctite on them, and 90% of the time they don't. Who knew that Thunder Tiger would actually do the right thing. Well I called up product support and explained the situation and the tech was really good about it and could see that happening. They are sending me a replacement swashplate by the end of this week or begging of next. So overall it turned out ok. I'm just going to have to move on and build the rest of the heli.

I'm glad to see they are sending a replacement so quickly! I broke the plastic elevator arm trying to connect it to the swashplate. They sent me a new one within a week since I really wasn't using much force on it before it snapped.

I don't know what kind of loc-tite some of the factories use when they do use it but sometimes its tougher than anything I've ever seen. You'd destroy the part trying to get it loose.

Yes, I was just loosing it up to make sure that it had loctite on the threads and it snapped off the second I tried to take it off. But I got my new swashplate and I had to use loctite this time every ball linkage and screw came off easier.

Just apply a hot soldering iron on the ball joint next time. A little heat loosens it up a treat. Great heli to build. My favourite to date :-)
