So, I spent the weekend setting up the 7200BX and finalizing my build. Couple things of note.

Both my main shaft and tail shaft developed some "rust". I used emory cloth on both shafts to smooth them out. Now the tail slider and swash are smooth as silk. I set up the YGE on stock parameters. I haven't set my throttle curve yet for gov mode, but on soft start, the motor stutters at very low stick. Will this go away once I set a flat curve for the gov?

Other than that, I began cycling my packs to break them in and set up everything except the parameters in the 7200BX. Really a smooth setup the BeastX has going. Straight forward, not hard to follow and adjust. I will say, I spent roughly 4 hours with it though. I took my time and set one option at a time, then saved it and slowly moved on.

Hopefully some nice weather will hang around so I can get in the maiden hover and finalize the setup.

Way to go! Get that thing in the air! I'm envious of your 7200BX. I have only the MB w/ one sat.

DAAAAAAMN!! Sexy smooth and super sweet!!

Wow. She really purrs. Got a little fine tuning in the tail to stop the kick on collective, but the maiden hover was GREAT!!

Beautiful day in Seattle!!!

Thanks! I put 3 packs through it hovering in the backyard. I've got the tail gain up to 70%, or G on the BeastX. Might be a tad high, the tail buzzes when it stops.

I've yet to adjust the "parameters". They are all default settings still. I'm thinking I'll start adjusting those once I can stretch her legs.

To say I'm excited is an understatement. 3 packs down, and this is the best flying heli I've built and flown. It's presence in the air reminds me my Swift, a much larger heli.

Use a separate flight pack. Don't plug in your servos till you've set the proper Hz and centerpulse. That's all I got. I just took my time.

I hardly had to make any real changes. Setup was mostly a matter of verifying that the default setting were good.

Try turning pot 3 down a little, that controls how hard the stops are.

So, do I want to turn the gain up as high as I can, then adjust pot 3 down to control the stops? Will pot 3 also control bounce back?

If the tail doesn't wag on violent manoeuvres with no rudder input then adjust pot 3 down to control bounce on piro stop (tail only). Dont fiddle with that till you have the tail gain sorted out though (so if it only wags on a piro stop then change pot 3, it basically controls how hard the tail decelerates when you 0 rudder input).

Some pics. I'm not really sure what to do with the long antennae. So I've just tucked it down behind a boom support. The unshielded portion is clear of the carbon. It's not mounted or fixed in position.

I've a spekky satellite mounted just on the lower upward sloping piece of plastic frame towards the rear where the boom mounts.

So I can't say for sure but take a look at the pictures that the 450X guys are posting up.

https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...=391314&page=2

I see some guys have the antenna on the right tied down to the frame.

I don't know all that much about microwave receivers but I understand the 2 antennae ideally have to be sort of perpendicular to each other I think. Also I think from the pictures I see, DSMX spekky receivers have shorter antennae than the AR7200BX.

Got to stretch her legs today. Not the best weather. Windy, light misty rain, but I couldn't wait any longer.

Little slow on the cyclic, but it's not bad, and certainly adjustable. FFF no problem, flips, rolls, inverted hover, piece of cake. Stall turn back across the field, set up for a tail slide into FBF, end result tail wag of doom.

TH resulted in a light slap into the sandy mud. I think my feathering shaft is a hair bent, as she now has an ever so slight vibration on spool up. Still hovers smooth though.

In the end, I either got real lucky, or I can expect this thing to crash like a champ! Maybe a positive side effect of autorotation robbing drag, no energy in the head to damage anything in a crash?!

That tail wag can usually be fixed in flight by switching to another mode.

So I just flip into IU2 to stop the wag? I'm assuming my gain is a tad high. I haven't had good weather yet, but I'll be trying again next semi-nice day. If dropping the gain a few points doesn't solve it, I need to move the ball in on the tail servo, no? Then reset the endpoints?

My only other concern is my tail blades. Since my grip bolts were bad, the only thing I was able to do was install m2.5x15 bolts. They are larger, so the tail blades are awful tight. Could this be causing wag in backwards flight?

I will be ordering a new tail assembly as soon as they are back in stock. I've already got new blades on the way.

I haven't yet. I ordered a new tail assembly which arrived Friday, so that I can install the appropriate bolts, and have new tail blades too. I just haven't had much time. The weather has been extra crappy, snowed yesterday, and my son had 3 games on Saturday. I'll try to get to it this week, as the extended forecast shows a very nice Friday-Sunday.

I just hovered her, but I've got the new tail blades, bolts, and a new spindle in the head. Got the Fusano lid on her too! I had to turn down the gain, which reaffirms my belief that the oversized tail grip bolts were the cause of my FBF wag of death. I will take her out to the field as soon as I can to test out that theory.

Took her out today and put 3 packs through her. She flew fantastic! Smooth, fast, powerful, and rock steady. Turned my gain down a hair, and the tail is locked in. I'm planning to get out tomorrow again, this time with 3 more packs! Charging batteries as I type this.
