Default Tail motor vs. belt drive?

Why do you guys think that E-flight decided to go with a tail motor instead of belt drive?

Less complexity, cheaper.

Because then they would have had to name it the Blade m400.

Seriously though and I'm no expert but my theory is that with the SR being tamed down and having a slower head speed they couldn't get the tail to spin fast enough with a belt system to have any real authority.

Just my guess.

Agreed, this is an entry level CP heli. Price is one of the factors that scare away novice pilots, even though the bigger more expensive ones are easier to fly.

On another note, wouldn't a torque tube tail be cool in this size!

I have one the Gaui 200 SD , but Shaft drive is very delicate.

The electric tail motor is to keep the shelf price at an attractive level. Plus its an E-Flite tradition to make their products with some kind of annoying aspect, like tail motor noise.

+1 tail motor is a cheaper more crude design.

Also found out that my SR is quite tail heavy. tilted the swashplate forward a lot to hover . Wonder if a belt drive would make it worse? Tail rotor motor noise is annoying though I like the "bee" sounding buzz of the MSR tail motor.
