Ok – Protos is all built – servos working correctly, tail setup, etc. I then got to the ESC setup and ran into a big pile of questions.
Question #1: I need to program the stock MSH60A ESC. At first I figured no problem – I break out the manual and…..???? I get the part about moving my transmitter stick to full throttle and plugging the battery in – that’s clear enough – but then it just kind of leaves you hanging. After looking around on-line - if I understand it correctly: 1) Throttle curve set linear 0 – 100 2) Full stick on transmitter 3) Power up ESC 4) Await tones 5) Full back stick 6) Await tones (for setting no brake) 7) Leave stick full back 8) Await tones (for setting soft start) 9) Disconnect battery 10) Done??? Question #2: Governor mode – To be perfectly honest I don’t really understand it. Do most people on here use governor mode on their Protos or do they go into the advanced ESC setup and turn it off? If I understand governor mode correctly you use flat throttle settings (please correct me if I’m wrong). For example: Norm: 0, 50, 50, 50, 50 ST1: 70, 70, 70, 70, 70 ST2: 80, 80, 80, 80, 80 If I do stay with the governor mode setting on - what settings are recommended for Norm, ST1 and ST2 on the protos with stock scorpian motor? If I take governor mode off do you have any information on how to program that into the ESC – the manual does not describe how to do that at all (at least mine doesn’t). Thanks a bunch for the help – it’s greatly appreciated.

I do believe most people run gov. mode. I don't so can't help you but as for question #1 that all looks correct. I'm sure some people will help the rest of the way. Good luck

A lot of people (myself included) use the Gov Store mode - it is absolutely excellent (as well as a great governor, you set it uo with your weakest pack and can then get realistic gov settings for all of your packs). You do need to buy the programming card however.

Thanks for the help guys.
I got it programmed and took it out in the front yard last night after work and just did some test hovering and very basic forward flight for a couple of battery packs. Can't wait to get it out to the field this weekend and really fly it - I think it's going to be an awesome heli!! I started with a flat 75% throttle - but think I'm going to move it up to 80 - will be able to tell better when I get it to a real flying area. Thanks once again for all the help.......this one went together so well now I'm thinking about a Mini Protos... ![]()
