When you get that metal swashplate, you need to remove the screws holding the balls (7 in total) and threadlock them. In this hobby, the only way to make sure things are threadlocked is to do it yourself.

Handy hint, get yourself a good lump of Blu-Tac and stick it to your worksurface. When re-inserting the screws into the swashplate, press the ball into the Blu-Tac and it will hold the ball while you aim the screw through it into the hole in the swash.
Sounds silly, but it works. It stops you losing the ball and makes it easier to insert the screws.

Also check www.helikraft.com for your parts. For your batts just remember to avoid over discharging them. Max 80% discharge. I have over 300 cycles on my oldest and a 5 min flight while learning for me only used 1200mah so way less then the 80%. Keep some main bearings on hand to cause they can cause some serious wobbles. I replaced mine with abec-3 rated 5x11x5 and it cured mine. Best of luck learning and 3 yrs later and 1 crash every 100 flights or so and I still have original plastic parts on mine. Can't beat them. No bending to mess around with, either good or broke.

Spare parts I keep on hand for my v1 are (some other people may suggest different):

- main shafts
- feathering shafts
- main shaft bearings
- tail boom
- base plate
- landing skid
- tail rotor shaft and
- blades both main and tail

It helps get you back in the air faster when you don't have to run or wait for parts all the time.

Good luck, have fun, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Everyone here tries to help and believe me learning on my own this forum helped me a lot.

Another handy tip. In crashes the usual suspect to hit the dirt is the flimsy side arms on the battery holder. Buy a spare battery holder and use its two arms to double up the ones on the heli. That way you get double-thickness arms and less likely to break.

+1 on the battery tray, I almost forgot about how easy the sides break. I shortened mine so the battery almost lays flat the last time the arms broke. Really stiff and a lot harder to break now. I do like the doubling up of the arms though.

300 flights on one batt. pack? . man was i doing things wrong!!! i was useing the little charger that came with an older honey bee king 2. i was lucky to get 25 flights out of one puffed up batt. & that was just trying to hover!!! so much slop it was all i could do to keep it air borne. & that blue locktight, i use that all the time, i do alot of work on cars & motorcycles. much later on this will be the heli i put my 5 blade head on, with a fusealoge on. thanks to you guys i have a new outlook on my helis! my wife said i just spent all of my heli funds for awhile . in the long run i think i just saved some $. we have a sluch fund account for her fun stuff ( shoes ) & mine helis. again thanks guys, no way i could have done this alone!!! .

Shoes - I know what you mean A wife and two daughters - I'm surrounded by shoes !!!!

Good luck, take it slow. I fly my sims more than my helis - hopefully some day it will be the other way around.

If you haven't seen yet, www. rchelicopterfun.com is packed full of good info - there's a section on batteries and chargers too.

+1 I read that to. Great info when learning. The only thing I did not do was set my throttle curve the way they said to learn. Ran to motor and esc to hot not running it Atleast 85-90%. The pitch curves were bang on for learning.

I agree - I had better luck not using his curves, but the rest of the info is good.
