Default Coreless Motor Storage?

With all the talk about motors giving up and the need to have some spares in the tool box, I ordered a couple for that purpose. In fact my bird is starting to rotate slowly when in a steady hover, so may be needing one soon.

My question is, is there any special considerations for storing these motors? They are very magnetic so will naturally be attracted to each other in the tool box/bag. Is that something to be concerned about or should they be kept separate so as to avoid a constant magnetic contact for long periods of time?

Thanks for your thoughts.

you want to keep them away from each other,
a tampon tube cut to the lenght of the package / motor with plastic would work fine.
you just don't want them banging next to eachother or other metal parts in your parts bin.
hope that helps

Pfloyd, i think you may be a lot closer to being right than you think......especially with the MSRX motors....LOL !
I'm glad ronj ask that question though, because like a dummy, i had all 3 extra motors I have all in the same zip lock bag and in the same parts box. Needless to say they all have their own little home now !

PFloyd: Interesting idea, but not much room left there. That's where I have all my broken blade mounts, blades and skids.

It seemed to me that they should be separated, but I have never seen them that way. At the LHS, the bags all hang on the same hook and the ones shipped have been together.

Makes me wonder if some of the problem with these motors could partly be just bad storage.

Nope, just (very) poor material quality on commutators. At the speed they rotate, a brushless is a way better choice - not that they cannot screw up the bearings equally bad.
