How can you be so "involved" with them and know them "inside out" if you do not even have one? Only a hands on experience can give you the knowledge to know them "inside out"!

What is the recommended shortening length? I don't think there is a thread devoted to the shortening of the flybar mod?

Also do you guys shorten it with a soldering iron? How do you retain it?

I use a 750 to 800 deg. F heat gun, a candle should also work. Keep the heat off of the carbon fiber rod. You’ll most likely melt the plastic end cap but that’s OK, it’s bound for the trash can anyway. Use some small pliers to slide the plastic cap off and slide the weight to the center. I use a razor knife to scrape the CA off of the carbon fiber rod before I start cutting.</SPAN>

Before you start heating and moving the weights try just cutting the plastic end caps off and doing some flying. It worked well on one of the MCXs I just modified. You can sand the plastic end off or cut it off with a small saw. Put a drop of CA on the end of the weight when you are done to help hold the weight in place.

I can confirm that heating the rod will NOT help you :p

Cryo, I cut off the outer part of the weight and then moved the metal weights in so the overall length is now 4 inches. It works fine. I will try adding more weight later to see how it affects it, but I will most likely leave it as it is.

As many others have done to their stock chargers, I modified mine for AC as well. I suggest at the minimum adding a wall charger but I figured why not make it a dual charger. I don't know what the circuits of the stock charger are rated for current, but I don't think it would be good looking at the size of the wires if you went over 1A?

-Drilled 21/64" hole for DC Type M plug in back of charger.
-6v 600mA DC wall supply (got lucky found one lying around)
-Parkzone connector glued in and wired parallel for dual battery charging.

$1.35 for the Parkzone connector, $3.29 for the DC M switched panel plug @ Radioshack, hot glue stick 5c.

Notes:
-Make sure you use a "switched" M panel plug, wire it so it opens the circuit on the batteries when the AC charger is plugged in.
-You still need a single AA battery in the charger on the positive side (where the red wire connects to the +) to power the LED.

The only thing left that I want to do is add another LED to the front of the charger since the one on top is pretty useless when you need to get a charging status while you're flying across the room from it.

I thought I'd put this in here. Some of you may have seen it. I'm just browsing this forum (I'm usally in the trex 250 section) so if you want some info, pm me. This was fun to do and kind of an experiment. When these mods are done, the heli is almost uncontrollable (servo speed), so I don't recomend this to the newbee. Thank for whatching.

after all that work you could have just got the cusker kit for $20, and 20 min of time, but your setup is nice.

There was a little more work done than just the swash plate. I dont think anyone would release a "kit" with this amount of modification. Like I said It was almost uncontrolable, and I was just having fun. It is now back in stock form.
