You're too gantle by far, but I'll make sure to practive balancing my blades. I got a little scale to be able to weigh them to the hundredth of a gram so that should help to make sure they are close in weight first.
Shoot me and email to let me know how I can square up with you. I'm looking forward to having it back. I sure miss flying. |

Re: Ready to go brushless but need advice
Weighing them helps, but I don't bother, that assumes that the main shaft, bearings, head block, grips, grip spacers, grip bearings etc are all spinning exactly true, which is hardly ever the case. Right now your blades measure exactly the same weight to a hundredth, but if I swap them in the grips the vibes are worse.

Got my little beast back on Thursday. Boy it was good to fly again. Everything is in top working order, thanks Dylan. I've flown it 50 batteries already and it is flying great. I'll keep working on eliminating vibes. I'm sure I'll get better at it over time. It's so much fun to fly it now that I have good power.

Put another 20 or so flights on this little guy and it's still going strong. I was feeling cocky last night 9 batteries in with only 1 TH. I pile drove it into the ground (grass fortunately), and everything is still in top shape so far except I mangled the rear landing gear pin on my airtime skids. I'm lucky that there is enough of a nub left to keep it lightly in the frame though until I get my new set from Rich. He's another guy we need to keep in business. He offered me a discount since I've come back a couple of times. I was happy to pay full price because I can't even imagine using any other skids now. We have some awesome members here!
For reference to anyone who is tempted to buy the banggood main gears. I think theses were a large part of my problem with crashes. Those things are too tight and do not slip when you crash. Dylan from Astroid-Design sent my mcpx back with a stock main gear and the heli crashes so much better because of it. It didn't occur to me because they didn't cause much of a problem with the stock motor, but with a brushless, I think it was causing havoc damaging the head and main shaft. I know that they are super cheap and it is annoying when the main gear slips off or out of place, but it was made like that for a reason. If you try to use them, drill them out a bit so that they are not so stinking tight on the main shaft. |

And so it begins. Got the new frame cut out for the motor. And I have a V1 coming in a few days. I think I read they actually are better for brushless than the V2's?

Re: Ready to go brushless but need advice
But vibe free I think the v2 flies better.

I have well over 20 flights on the HP03V2 now, it started off with the XP3a superfet but I had bad solder joints on the motor wires. It was a bit low on power, my supplier was beyond nice enough to give me a hand full of the oversky 10a pnp that I really like so I threw one of those on it and flashed it to run full output no gov. I have 2 cycles on my new hyperian 330's and this little thing is fun! I want to try it now with my nanotech 45c but I won't have time for a bit.
It is everything a stock mcpx should have been! Perfect tail hold with the 7mm tail and lynx 42mm. It does inverted funnels and some halfassed inverted backwards hurricanes no problems as well as clean half piro flips and big rainbows. I really like it for a stress reliever in my street or yard It weighs 38g with no lipo blheli calculates 4890 rpm, my 13,500 m5 also weighs 38g and is in a totally different league. I run that with a gov around 5200 rpm with the blheli calculations. The Hp03V2 crashes so damn good! It doesn't have enough torque to strip the main gear or really damage any head parts. I keep putting it in under full power doing really low inverted funnels in the wind. Be it grass or pavement so far I just pick it up and fly it again! Thanks Dylan for the awesome idea and setup!

I'm back all. I've really been enjoying this brushless upgrade. I've been flying 8-10 flights a day since I got it. I ruined a tail motor trying to put some ca. I accidentally got the ca into the motor when I pushed the rotor on
Anyway, last week I had a nasty crash trying to fly after it got too dark. I broke a ball on a grip. I threw on the original non-bl head and balanced it out. It flew fine and I was getting the same time out of my batteries. I ordered a lynx rotor hub and put new blades on and got it all balanced decently. Somehow I lost 30 seconds of flight time. I put a new main gear and checked to make sure the mesh wasn't too tight. I oiled everything up too. I don't know what happened to those 30 seconds, but now I get 2:30 out of the 250s and 2:45-3:00 on the 330s. They come down at 3.71-3.76 after resting. Another thing that started happening is randomly none of the servos work once the motor spools up. I flew it 8 batteries tonight and that happened 3 times. It spins up fine but I could not change the pitch, or use elevator or aileron. I could change tail rotor speed though. It would start working normally after a bit and I could fly and flip and do everything normal after. One time I lost all servo control in flight and had to dump it. But only that one time. I'm not sure what is going on with that. I did try rebinding at one point to see if that helped. Didn't seem to make a difference. On a final note, it seems to have lost some of its pop. It can handle pitch pumps just fine but it doesn't seem to climb like it was when it was fresh from Dylan. It could just be my perception with the other things going on, but it sounds more boggy when I give it full positive pitch. All in all I'm not complaining about my build. It's awesome and I've crashed it plenty already, so any issues are definitely my own making at this point. Just looking for ideas on how to troubleshoot the new things happening here. Everyone here is so helpful and have kept this hobby incredibly enjoyable. Thanks! |
