Default Furion 6 - 10S set up help needed

I now have 20 flights on the F6. It's great, but lacks "enthusiasm." My current system needs tweaking. 4035-560, 80HV ESC, 2x 5S 25C 5000 mAh Hyperion packs, 12T pinion. I need the heli to be more lively. Cyclic controls are good - reactive without being twitchy.

Q1 - I see head speeds ranging from 1950 -2400. Has there been a conclusion yet what seems to be the best HS for sport and light 3D flying?

Q2 - I see there seems to be agreement that 600g per battery is the goal. Is there a general consensus on optimum C rating for sport and light 3D flying?

Q3 - Assuming I want a HS in idle 1 to be 2000 and idle 2 to be 2200, would the 13T pinion be the ideal? I would use the CC governor feature here.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

I hesitate to answer because I can't fly 3D. Only went inverted for the first time just today!

Up the head speed. Try 2100-2200 if you're not already. I hear the 14T is needed for the CC governor - something about 'headroom'. Might try the 13T since you have it with the kit?

Higher C the better, I'm running 25C, but zero 3D here.

Sure others will chime in with better info

Furion 6 is built to run at least 2300 head speed for smack... you would probably want lighter batteries as well. 13tooth at least.

here is The Bobby...

Thanks Danny - according to his post on helifleet.com, he is using 2x 5000mAh packs, 2000 HS, 14T pinion. He claims 5 minutes putting back 80%. No mention of C rating. Interesting to see what other pilots "claim" to be flying. I've been told the optimum HS for power is about 2100 HS - not sure anymore who or what to believe.

Looking for good power for sport/very light 3D.

Brian from Miniature Aircraft posted in one of these threads that itwas meant to go 2300, they then developed a "speed up" pulley for the tail for those that wanted slower headspeeds to maintain tail authority.

First thing I do when a heli is sluggish is check my head speed and I'm usually low.

Go up 50 or 100 rpm and see?

I recall seeing tha too, but i am pretty sure it was in the 12S set-up thread. Might need the higher HS for the added weight of the batteries. Who knows?

Thanks for the replies, keep them coming - what C rating? what HS?

Actually remember looking at all the helifleet stuff, I'm in there too, forgot to list my Furion... anyway, I mostly remember that thenumbers were kind of all over the place. you just gotta find what works best for you.

I have the same setup, with 4400mah 40c packs, flying sport... loops, rolls, flips... 6 minutes 30% left on 12t 2000+/-.

I am on 12s, but I run mine at 2200 and 2300. It's a beast at 2300. Stupid fast and so crisp.

How much pitch are you running? Is it fbl? If so, what controller?

I'm running the following and it has plenty of pop:

Scorp 4035-560
CC Ice2 80HV
2x Gens Ace 25c 5s 4000mAh
Maverikk G5 WC FBL 620mm main blades
KBDD 96mm tail blades
2400 rpm governed
14t pinion
+/-11 deg collective pitch
Futaba CGY-750

4.5 min flight times results in putting back 2800-3200mAh per pack

Thanks. It is relevant to answering your question because some ESC's can display some weird effects on headspeeds on their own and combined with some FBL gyro's can be even worse. The CC ESC is fairly straight forward and increasing the pinion would be the best first solution.

I would have to comment the Furion 6 is a Greyhound and I had to slow mine down to a Labrador to suit my wobbling around the sky. Even now its climb rate, response to cyclic and piro rate are very snappy. I just wish I was 40 years younger to be able to really put it through it's paces.
