Haha! Josh, I am already sold bro....you just hammered the nail in deeper though. Funny how your description almost got me drooling.......

I just got off the phone this morning with Chuck at Peak, he added in the extra's and got the Triabolo paid for. Esc purchased just now also. There may be a wait for the motor, but this gives me ample time to build it correctly before it becomes available. Then he called me back, he was fitting my Tenergy canopy mounts in my spare canopy for me so I could properly see where they go. I have never had service like this before.

Another long Whoooooooot.

My heli just arrived today. And here is a teaser pic of something no one else has on theirs yet. I couldn't wait to mock it up for a pic or two. One of my flying buddy's came by to have me help setup his new heli today. And he was blown away by this.

Wicked!

Lol, I knew this would get someone's attention.
I have had a couple sets of these tri tail rotors for a couple years now. I ran these on my 813 stretched 600 and also my Goblin. But before you guys go ordering these for your own Tri's let me make sure they work through the grip angles correctly and if the ball connection at the bell crank is a perfect fit.

Bob at RcTek builds these. And his workmanship is amazing.

Well, to answer my above post. Yes! The RcTek Tri rotor tail grip hub and assembly fit like a tight glove. Perfect fit and dead on grip angle distribution on both sides including the hover offset angle. I did integrate the Diabolo tail slider hub into the assembly however as it was so much better than the aftermarket version I had on the RcTek rotor earlier. But I still used the slider bush as the threads are finer than the Diabolo bush, so it didn't fit.

I got my main shell assembled today. Including my tri rotor tail, the third bearing shaft support upgrade, lower batt tray and Cf skid assy. I also got one of my canopies fit with the quick release mounts.

I did do a few things differently, such as adding aluminum finish washers under all my bolt heads. And I also used a new Diamond Lube on all my bearings and one way sets. The product uses nano spherical diamonds, and has the lowest lubrication rating out of any product in the world. .00008 drag coefficient mil spec rated. I guess from all the tests once it is applied on or in a bearing, they never ever wear out. I even used it inside the swash and on the tail shaft slider. The slider was so tight it was binding with normal synthetic lube, but a spot of this stuff and it moves around smooth as butter.

During the build my electric forced air heater gave out. And was rattling around sounding like a motor ready to toss a rod through the block. I have had that thing apart over the last few years just about every couple months and tried lubing it with all kinds of exotic stuff. Nothing worked. Just a drop of this stuff however and the stupid thing ran like it was new. Uncanny.

Well for starters the Triabolo frame was already drilled out for the extra third shaft bearing support. So installing it was quite easy. And the only other issue I had was installing the two separate side plate servo mounts. Both needed to be slightly filed out with a V to clear the CF frame so the holes would line up. No biggie. Everything else was brilliantly tight and perfect, the whole build process had me so totally relaxed I pictured little angels floating around the room singing the hallelujah chorus.

I also weight and Koll balanced my tri blades. The two uncut blades came in at 208.1 and the cut version was 3/10th a gram lighter. So I added the weight needed to match them and get perfect Cog also.

Out of all of the supplied spacers in the kit, I only needed the two for the bottom of the primary shaft. None of the rest were needed anywhere. What was totally surprising is the quality of the bearings. I have never ever ran across quality versions like this in any of the hundred plus factory builds I have done over the years! These are as tight and smooth as the upper end abec 7 to 9s I have been installing in all my other builds. Just unbelievable! Minicopter! Here is to all of you... Even the shafts and other machined parts were just dead spec on. Nothing sloppy anywhere! Virtually all the CF and other support parts were just perfect. But like usual I wet sanded all the CF parts with 600 grit, and checked all the tapped holes before final seating the bolts with Loctite.

I am impressed. And I am real real hard to impress.

So tomorrow, or actually when I get up later this morning. I just noticed it is 1:30 am. I lost track of time in the build frenzy. I will install the sliding tray along with the head assembly then start installing the electronics.

Thanks for the pics. I don't know if I'm gonna make it, my kit is still a few weeks out. Good news is my tax refund will be here tomorrow so I can settle my invoice, so when my kit is in chuck's hands he can ship it to me.. A friend.of mine offered a pyro 800 at a good price but I think I'm gonna splurge and get the pyro 750 comp as the weight savings are like 125 grams.

You will for sure love how smooth that thing is in the air. Not much out there can hold a candle to a minicopter and once you have one you will be spoiled by it. There are few upgrades for them because they just don't need them. I had to start with the 700.. Stretch to 800.. With plans to convert to tri just to scratch that tinkering itch.. I am sold on them.

Thanks guys! I am particularly proud of the RcTek tri tail rotor that integrated into this heli. Unbelievable. Tri rotor up top and back also. I doubt I will be having issues with tail authority! I just need to sort the proper blades for it now. I am thinking of Kbdd 95mm orange versions to match the canopy and tail? Or just use the yellow/white 95mm versions that came with the kit instead, but mis matched? Or? Any ideas?

What do you guys think?

Geez this heli is so light. Unbelievable.

About the only thing bad about this build at all, is now I am looking at these Goblins hanging off my wall. And wondering which one is going to hit the for sale sections first.

The white belt is a special belt made for the Diabolo/Triabolo 800.

Good grief, this has turned into an intense long build. Admittedly some brought on by myself and how anal I am. Plus, I am already modding and upgrading things to fit my system into place on this amazing beast.

I got it last monday, but spent the entire day until almost 10pm that day working on another friends custom Warp. The Ikon he wanted installed turned out to be the hardest fbl controller I have ever had to wade through. So my TB sat in its box waiting.

Tuesday I got started. And was up till 3am. Wednesday I pulled another all day until just before sunrise also wrenching on the heli. Thursday again I stayed up till 2am. By then my back was killing me and my hands were aching from all the work.

I realized at this point how obsessed I had become.

I had quit answering my phone. I ignored the fact my fridge was almost empty. I ignored the frozen pipes in my house. I ignored the fact my breakers kept tripping when I tried pouring the heat on inside. It wasn't until I ran out of coffee that I broke down and made a quick trip to the store. I even quit doing laundry, what the heck, my water pipes were frozen anyways! I did remember to feed the cat, but only because she was screaming so loud at 3am I had no choice. Also the automatic cleaning kitty litter box got so bad it was crazy.

In the process I also tore down two of my Goblins to play musical Bec's and servos with. And had to re equip those also to the new changes there, which cost me more precious time. So I hung those back on the wall unfinished.

I also pulled the Gps out of my G700 and transferred it over into the Triabolo. Which brought on an extra ton of work fabbing up custom brackets and fitting it all inside the rear electronics area. Both my soldering irons saw extensive work during this period also. And I think I used about every single tool in my tool box, including drills, dremels, files. And even a few trips out into my large tool boxes in the garage for stuff I normally don't use. Plus I ended up carving the canopy so the Gps module would clear it.

The tail servo in the TB got changed out three times until I was happy. The last install required modding the servo hole itself, and I ended up tapping out the TB's servo mounting block as it wasn't done on one of the holes. I also installed and pulled that out another dozen times routing braided wires through the frame.

This only brought on a bigger smile and even more determination. I also discovered sadly on friday what the little page ikons on the build instructions did. Oh crap, I felt stupid. But by then I had most of it done. Including customizing my new YGE160. I also installed the heat sink using Arctic silver and braided all the lines. Installed polished aluminum grommets just about everywhere. Plus customized a new Omega boom support bracket and got it fit on the boom supports.

Not to mention the horde of custom parts for the BD I bought that also took changes to get installed correctly.

Geez! I am almost half way done now.

A few pics to follow...........

Shhh, I am getting free heath care. Well, kinda. The forced medical retirement it came with sucks, as do the reasons I get it.

But yeah, I am honestly having the best time of my year right now.

Other than installing the new Kde motor they haven't released to me yet and setting up the 14s batt packs. I need to finish the tail servo rod then the mechanical work is finished. The electronics are all installed in a sanitary fashion even I am happy with.

And if you are wondering where the clear plastic part came from that I cut up and molded to fit my Gps signal light on. It was the Diabolo antenna mount at one time. I used to build acrylic aquariums way back when, and a med hot soldering iron is a perfect tool to get a clean roll or corner made using it.

This Triabolo is ready for its canopy work and matching tail boom covering.
