450x Injury
Poor man lost an eye, although he accepts it was his fault as the seller had warned him.

Poor man? If you fly(?!?) a 450x in your living room then you're asking for it, especially if you're still in the stage of "accidentally" making the wrong move. What an idiot, at least that's a lesson in helicopter safety he will never forget if he chooses to continue in the hobby.
Guess I shouldn't talk, accidentally spooled one into myself when I first started but that was leaning over to pick it up with a tx on a strap and hit the throttle with my body in the process. A lesson in TH I'll never forget, but that was post repair testing, not flying which I now have a table I strap the heli to for that purpose. Could I successfully hover my 450x in the lr? Yes Would I do it?? HELL NO!!! |

Love this line:
'My friend told me it was dangerous, particularly indoor, but I ignored him. 'I thought I knew best

He got crippled for life due to a moment of stupidity. Some may think it's a fair punishment, but I feel sorry for the guy.

I just find it hard to feel sorry for someone who pointed a gun at their own foot, was warned not to pull the trigger, and did so anyway.

Terrible accident. May have been a dumb move but to lose an eye is just an extreme punishment for what should have been harmless. Proves one thing..
THEY ARE NOT TOYS!!! They should never be referred to as such. And honestly i dont think many people out there should be able to just buy one rtf without passing a common sense test or something. Maybe we need a license to own one idk. The test could consist of learning of lipo hazards, faa etc rules, and the potential hazards with examples like this guy. Learn that and you earn the right to give it a go. Like skydiving.. they dont just hand you a parachute and tell you to jump. You take a class to learn how to be safe with it. Sometimes i think that may be best even tho i hate regulations bc its really only to help control idiots. Not that i havent done stupid things but yeah.. at least i try to have common sense nowadays.

either it wasn't really a 450x or this is a big lie. cause im sorry but if you flew a 450x into your face you would have lot more scars then what he has.
yes these are fun but dangerous "toys" as they called it.. be smart.

I stand at least 10 foot. maybe more away from my 450 when i am taking off landing. you never know what could happen. even if your a expert/Pro pilot. things can happen, servo can go bad, link pop off or break. anything. that thing could chop your leg off. no way no no no... we don't need stupid stuff like this on the web for others to talk about now my mcpx. i will fly it close to me. but i always wear glasses when i fly ( i am blind) and i have on real shoes, never fly in flip flops. i have on cloths. i feel if something happened i could turn away from heli or something. i know a mcpx could cut you but unless it did hit you in the eye or face it wouldn't be terrible. a 450 or bigger. whole driffrent story

It could happen to anyone. I mean on my 21st i stayed at a hotel for a comedy show. It was my 21st so yes i was drinking. Well after the show i was trying to find my way back to my room, when all of a sudden i ended up in the kitchen. I mean imagine if i had found the water tank. lol.
