Default EXI Servos! Check them out!

Hey I have been looking for a new set of servos and am on a budget. I have seen these exi servos with crazy specs and very cheap. I have yet to have any word on them at all, good or bad. I really would like to not jump into a purchase but the specs are insane. Metal geared, .15 at 180 oz torque for 20 bucks. Also one is at .9 at 111 oz. Please let me know!

IMO servos are NOT something that you wanna go cheap with on a heli, they are the most important component and you do not want to risk them. Just my .02

The price difference between a set of 3 d213 exi and a set of hs-5065's is only about $30-$40.

If anything goes wrong with the exi it becomes throw away. With the hitec's you get a hella warranty and/or lots of parts availability if you smash them...

I switched from exi d213's to 65's in my blueray and though they are rated the same speed, the hitecs feel way faster and seem to center way better.

Could just be me, but I definitely feel it is worth it for servos that will be with you for a long time whether the servo fails or is "assisted" in failing.

Do you have a web site with prices and shipping?

Hobbypartz.com for the exi's, $4.95 flat rate ship. The d213 is $9 each, my bad on price was looking at another site where they are more.

Readyheli.com for a set of 3 hs 5065 digital MG, $105, free ship.

Still, though I have no complaints about my d213's, I like my hitecs more. They seem to feel better.

On a side note... I do have an exi 450 decked out with the cheapest possible hobbyking parts available. Never had a problem with it in over 100 flights (all scale type, it's all I will let myself do, still learning) and the lightness of everything gives me the longest flight times of anything I have.

Depends on what you are doing I guess.

I just dont want to spend that much money and plan on buying new stuff anyway in the near future. With those specs though, if the centering is a little off I can live with it. I dont think catastrophic failure is common, considering no complaints have been made, as compared to align servos.

well you you can pretty much guarantee that the specs they give are inflated...so I wouldn't go based on how they look on paper...

How many manufacturers of servos do you think are out there? I would say not that many...The market is not big enough to support many, many manufacturers... it simply is not cost effective.
Servos sold under many other names could very well be the same servo you pay premium $ for under a well known label ie JR, or Futaba. If you don't have direct evidence to counter this, you need to so some research. I've paid $13 for servos that sell for more than $100 ea. and got the same performance. Marketing has many faces and will take all you're willing to pay!
