Default T-rex 600 VS Raptor 50

Hi there

At the moment i own a T-rex 450 XL and i want to invest in a new larger heli this summer either T-rex 600 or Raptor 50.

I have read that some think that the T-rex 600 is better quality than the Raptor but i am afraid the T-rex will be to expensive (batteries)

Same time i will get only 6 minutes of flight time with T-rex where i can get 10- 12 minutes with the Raptor as i am informed.

Which one will cost me the most money (ready to fly)?

And which one has most power? I know Raptor 50 has a lot of power because it apparently is a Raptor 30 with a larger motor. Can the T-rex 600 compete here!

Of-course the "how to build" videos will help me a lot if i decide for the T-rex but i hope to have a lot of opinions and experiences with the 2 helicopters so i can decide which to buy.

Hope you will help me....

Kristian

That depends mainly on whether you want electric or nitro. If you don't have any nitro field equipment already, it will add to the cost of getting a nitro model ready to fly. Of course, batteries for the 600 are a big consideration also.

In my personal opinion, I would never buy or own a Trex 600. I have a 450 and not impressed at all with the quality. I would much rather get the E-Raptor when it's available. Just my opinion though.

I would like to convert all my birds to electric but until batteries become affordable for the larger birds, I have to stick with nitro.

If you like to fly but do not have endless amounts of cash for batteries... NITRO is the only option. I went to the field this weekend and flew (3) times in a row... unless I had 3 battery packs this would have been impossible. I doubt you can recharge 6s packs to +90% in less than 40 minutes and you will never get 10 minutes of hard flying.

I regards to quality Align is one of the few companies that seems to address problems rather quickly. I remember when the T-Rex first came out a new upgrade was in every box it seemed. I also think having the Szabos and friends finish flight testing the bird really helped out with the quality issues that plagued the 450.

The eRaptor will be nice since a lot of the parts/upgrades will work with the new model whenever it comes out... we are still waiting.

the quality level of the 600 is MILES and MILES beyond the 450 series.

it's like it wasn't made by the same company.

I haven't seen nor flown a Trex 600 so I can't comment on it. I believe the plus is it's bigger so the tolerances should be better and should have less slop. By the time the v4 comes out it should be a nice model. kidding

Well this weekend I flew my 600 and recharged the pack to 95% in less than 30 minutes. With the TP 3010/210 combo this is easily accomplished and is probably the most bulletproof lipo charging solution available.

Thanks Gscott so I guess if you can get 10 minute flights and have 3 sets of packs, and a charger that does 2 at a time, you can pretty much fly continuously.

How are you charging to 95% in 30 min? That's impossible unless your charging over 1C.

Exactly. The TP combo lets you safely charge at up to 3c.

Flightpower Evo20 packs can be charged at 2.5C according to their site although it may reduce overall pack life. I have a Trex 600 with 2 packs & a Swift with 2 packs plus an 85Ah deepcycle battery & 2 chargers. Even in the nitro days I didn't fly continuously as its as much about a chat with your buddies as it is flying. With the setup I have its easy to get 6 flights in a morning.

I have a T-REX 450 SE hybrid and a Raptor 50 TITAN. I am using a TT50H Pro engine, with a 3/4 full tank, i have fly for about 12-13mins, so with a full tank, i think i can stretch it to at least 14-15mins. I dont think my TP can beat that..plus if i use a 60 or 90 size fuel tank, i wonder how long more i can fly...

There are pics of it in the new rc heli mag. Looks real sharp! :glasses:

The video of the test flight is awesome. It's a power house.

One thing to definately consider is that you can fly your other heli/s whilst your bird with only one or two batts is charging. My Logo 20 only has one set of packs now (£400 a set!) so I fly it, then fly my rexs whilst it's charging.

The 6 mins on the rex 600 is a little mean though.
