Default Rchn speed cup win with the 6hvu!

Just got back from rchn. It was a blast! I decided it might be fun to enter my 6hvu in class 2 just for fun. Also everyone that entered got a raffle ticket for a gaui r5. We setup pylons for the standard 200 meter course. Speed was figured from the average time of your best run right to left, and best run left to right. A few days ago was my first time trying speed and it was pretty bad at first, but after some tuning, different blades, and advice from Justin, I started getting better. Made a few mods to the 6hvu. Chopped the landing gear, closed in the top of the canopy, and swapped pinion for 13 tooth. I was running my scorpion 4225 550 and a castle 120. Head speed was 2800 with 15 degrees of pitch. My final average speed was 107 mph! Keep in mind this is measured with time along 200 meters so I'm sure my peak speed was much higher. In class 2 (up to 630mm blades) I think there was about 20 guys or so. I was very surprised to hear that I had won! Very proud of my 6hvu. With more practice, tuning, and setup change, I know for a fact it could have gone much faster. I'll post some pics of it later.

That's awesome. I always felt like my 6hvu was close to my 700s in speed

I knew the old 6HV was quite speedy, and I'm glad to see the 6HVU kept the trait. Congrats for the win!

After listening to the podcast I heard that nicks run was something like 118 mph, with a goblin 500! Only reason he didn't win was because he didn't get a clean run in both directions. I guess I wasn't that fast after all. Could have done much better if I had time to prepare and set it up properly. I was using some really tired packs and could have also used a bigger motor. I think next year there's gonna be some more serious competition in class 2 (up to 630mm). At least one r5, but I plan to do my best again next year and hopefully hit 140 or so. I think I can do it with a custom fuse and a bigger motor. The 6hvu airframe is actually perfect for speed. Just need to relocate elevator and tail servo. Then I can build a fuse for it that's extremely thin.

That kind of homie's competition is so much more fun than serious stuff. Reminds me of local pass-the-hat fishing contest we had with about 5 boats out on the same lake one time. Chasing musky. We had a total blast. Winner collected the hat money.
