Looks like a very good design.

What type of spindle bearings are you planning to use?

Thanks Tom.

I want to use open type ball bearings and fill the housing with high speed oil but for this I need to find a way to seal the bottom side.

I would suggest angular contact bearings, this is the style CNC machines use for spindles. It is a special ball bearing that can handle higher axial loads. The ID spacer between the bearings determined the pre-load. You can stack the bearings together even in different orientations for more support.

They can be packed in grease and you can design in a seal below them to keep the grease in.

Due to the assemble procedure of regular ball bearings. there is always some axial and radial play in them which can affect your cut. Properly designed, the angular contact spindle with have minimal play.

That's amazing. I didn't know that type of bearings. The one I need is NSK7904CTY.

Bad that they are expensive.

You may be able to find cheap knock offs, they would still be much better than a standard ball bearing. I will email you a sketch.

The bottom cap is ready too. Those yellow bolts are for test fitting only. I'll replace them with M4x10 hex bolts.

OK, here's the first version of my brushless spindle. I haven't did anything for the balance but it seems like it is very well balanced. No vibrations at all and lots of power. I got some angular contact bearings on the way for the second version.

I have used regular ball bearings on this one and they get hot very quick so This is why I'll build a new one with proper bearings.

That is nice!

What did u not like about the z-axis you bought? Nice cut!

I was thinking of getting one of those on eBay too.

Was it hard align the linear rails? I'm thinking of using the plastic vbearings on the 2040 aluminum channels.
And belt driven instead of the antibacklash leads.

What do you think?
