Default ESC for Logo 500?

Hi all,

I'm selling my T-rex700 and looking at getting a logo500 or the SE.

Just a quick question

Option one is to get a kontronik Jive esc and Pyro motor and run the governor on that

OR

Option two is to get a CC esc and 4025/1100 motor and run the V-bar governor?

Option one is a fair few quid more, enough to make me wonder if there is a reason to spend all that cash?

The Jive gov will give you much better performance than the CC with V-Bar gov. On the contrary, a 'better' ESC (HobbyWing, YGE, etc) will give you better performance than the Jive when using the V-Bar gov.

Why not go for the Jive and 4025-1100? More power than the Pyro and a bulletproof combo, it's what I'm running in my L500.

I went from a Logo 500 vbar CC ICE 100 vbar gov to YGE 120 LV with the 4025 using the internal YGE gov. YGE seems more efficient . And I have the option to try YGE with vbar gov. But I hear that might over heat the esc .

Castle + vbar gov was a good gov setup but horrible spool up.

Can't go wrong with Kony and internal gov. YGE has a very very nice spool up.

If on a budget go with HobbyWing Platinum esc and vbar gov.

I'm using a Hobby Wing 100A with external gov (Skookum), motor is Scorp 4025-1100. The ESC is running quite warm - 60 - 65 Celsius but the motor is only 45C and the packs are barely warm to the touch. I can't compare it to the CC or Kontronik though, as I haven't run either on this heli. Am contemplating using a Jive with internal gov and a hand wound 4025.

I am using a Ice 100 on my 5003d and a 100lv jiv on my 500se I like them both IMO the ice 100 is okay if you are running 6s. But if you plan on one day turning your 500 into a 600se/sx then you will need to change the esc. With that being said perhaps you should go with a 80 hv jiv.

I would not recommend an 80HV if running a 4025-1100 on 6S. You can overcurrent with that motor on an 80A pretty easily.

Hmm, lots to take in.

My main worrie/ question is am I going to be wasting money if I'm getting a vbar anyway on a jive esc? I know their the mutts nutts but is it going to be that much different that it warrants the additional cost?

Cheers Tom

I think the big thing with the Jive is the massive BEC that it has with the two cables supplying juice to all the other components.

+1, I blew a CC80 with a 4020-1100, (OK, maybe not the best example, considering CC's track record). Definitely wouldn't trust the 4025 with an 80A ESC. I was using an external BEC thankfully, as the ESC was nearly completely incinerated.

Hmm ok, you have me convinced. Jive 100 lv and 4025/1100.

Right now it's just a case of which servos, blades and to mini or not to mini vbar.

Please tell me I'm right that the 500 can take 5000mah 6s or this has been totally wasted.

I have a cc 20a bec lying around is it worth using?

No, the BEC on the Jive is excellent.

The Kony 120 is a little heavier but now I wish I would have gone with that over the 100LV simply for upgradability. The 100LV has worked flawlessly, but I wish I would have spent the extra cash for the 120 due to my never ending heli size upgrade path. Internal BEC over external is a big issue also I think.

Have the Turnigy K-Force 150A (V-Bar gov.) with the 4025-1100 and a WR Hercules Super BEC in mine.

If you use the YGE 120 with the vbar gov will you get a over amp or over temp warning?
