Default News About the Aurora Ultimate

I got this email about an hour ago.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your interest in the Aurora Helicopter.

Since we have been flooded with e-mails requesting info about the Aurora
we prepared a set of answers to the most frequently asked questions:

-Price is not determined yet but street price will be under $1K
-The Aurora is a complete kit on its own.
-It can swing 690mm to 710mm main blades and 105mm tail blades
-Initial Gear ratio is 8.25 (99/12) More ratios to follow at a later
date not determined yet. Initial engine compatibility is the OS-91. As
of this date compatibility with the YS-91 is not guaranteed because the
fan hub is threaded with the OS thread.
-Weight is similar to the Avant FX/EFX and it ranges from about 9.7 to
about 10.5 lbs depending on equipment.
-At the time of this writing with the exception of CarbonXtreme and
Midland UK there is no official Aurora dealer announced yet. Any
pre-order from any dealer does not mean an obligation for Avant RC to
fulfill that order therefore that dealer is not guaranteed to receive
kits. A new dealer/distribution network is in the works and will be
announced soon. Current CarbonXtreme dealers will not necessarily carry
the Aurora line. Dealer requirements to carry the line include full
spare parts inventory support as a necessary requirement before they can
carry the line.
-CarbonXtreme will announce Pre-Orders at a later date that's not
determined yet. E-mails about pre-orders will not count only actual
pre-orders placed in the online store when available will count.
-Dealership inquires will receive a dealer requirements package in a
couple of weeks.

Best regards,

Customer Service
CarbonXtreme.

I just hope it doesn't turn into another "Vibe" senario, being announced and then not being available for a good 12 months later. That's not a good thing.

hmm, i certainly hope not gary, but hey, u get to save some $$ for the latest on-board equipment coz it'll be worth it. i am basing my opinion on the videos i keep seeing on the avant and comparing them with other models. man those avants fly as if they were sprayed with insecticides!

I've got all the equipment to put on it. I would like to have the new CY governor and see how that's going to work for it. Depending on which radio I put in it, either my 10X or the 14 MZ will decide which gyro I use. IF I go wit the 14 MZ I'll use a 611, the 10X I'll use the 7000T. That 7000 is a great gyro for JR finally.

i am going to contradict my username and migrate to avant as soon as it becomes available.

I have a question though, what head mechanics does it come with? i heard it comes with the fully programmable head. is that true?

writing my shopping list ! still puzzled on what servos to use on cyclics as i have very limited experience with ccpm setups. any suggestions?

it comes w/ the Avant Programmable head which is a great head.

if you are into extreme 3D, then get metal geared servos.

A. 94758 or

F. 9255 (which are metal, right?)

Yes, the 9255's are metal. The only problem I've seen with the Airtronics servos is the leads are little short.

i'll agree about the 9255 i'v used one of them on the pitch channel for raptor90, rock solid and had lots of authority,,

short leads are going to be a problem for ccpm setups right? ccpm servos are further mounted than in standard setups.

this concludes my "wish" list,

Avant kit - os.91sz hyper - SB18 - vblades (not sure yet which size) - vpaddles - gy611 - S9252 for throttle - 3xS9255 cyclics - TJ Pro - Fromeco lithium batts - Arizona regulator. together with my Synthesized Futaba 9C Receiver and my beloved Futaba 9CHPSuper radio. I dont wana go to heaven if i have this wish list anymore.

on the Avant, all the servos are close to the front of the machine and drive
pushpull levers that are all on a common shaft so 'short leads' should not be a problem.

I tried to use the 94758's in a Tempest and I just having a little more slack to try to keep things clean looking. When there isn't a little slack left you're pretty much stuck. Also, when I actually set up the Tempest with the Air servos I couldn't get the interaction to a suitable point. I took them out and used 9255's and didn't even have to make any adjustments to the swash, plus I had enough servo wire left to run them the way I wanted.

plus, if you are hellbent on 94758's and bang HARD on them, expect to be replacing gearsets
every season or more. they seem to get sloppy fairly fast.

G;ad to see the Aurora is up and flying, LOTS of people have been waiting somewhat impatiently.

From the video looks to be a VERY POTENT machine!! Can't wait to try Marcus's at the field!!
