Where is the Mikado Logo ~380 sized heli!?
Hey guys,
Curious about this! Why hasn't Mikado released a heli in the 360-420mm blade range? Obviously, they would produce an extremely competitive product, and many of the parts from some of their smaller existing platforms could likely be ported over. And double obviously, many of us here would buy one! -Adam |

I much prefer the way the Logo 480 flies for following reasons - more floaty and easier to fly - more precise - longer flight times - more forgiving - easier to auto - flies much better at lower headspeed and can fly in a similar size area and the goblin 380 at the low headspeed - flight time - easy on packs The only place the goblin is better than the 480 is with smack flying. The goblin smacks harder and faster. |

Not worth making.
-Market is flooded with that size -Production costs won't go down much -Can't sell a 360 kit for much, so simply not worth it

Mikado also said they'd never have Rescue on V-Bar...
Never say Never!

The 480XX is my next buy for sure, unless I change my mind to the 550SX.
Just, given how they design their frames, I think they would make an excellent product. The market will forever be crowded now...There are helis with nearly every blade size. Companies will need to innovate to own a category, which is good for us! |

I think there is plenty of room in the market for a QUALITY 380 size. Regarding the comment that there is no money in this size, Goblin 380s fly off the shelf at over $350 and the 420 is selling fast at $420 for the kit ans blades, so there is money in this size imo
I could imagine a mini Logo plastic frame that looks like a downsized 500, droool! |

What you forget is the cost of tooling for the molds. Much more expensive than a CF Frame. I do believe it would sell...just not enough to make it cost effective.

It could be a carbon frame. There is almost no materials cost in carbon frames made of simple laser cut panels with metal and plastic standoffs.
I agree, the tooling cost would be prohibitive if they didn't hit the numbers they need for whoever their suppliers are. If I was designing a heli frame for performance to cost benefit, it would be carbon side panels with a mix of plastic and metal standoffs/mounts. If I was designing a heli frame for the utmost in integration, it would be a two part injection molded unibody with metal additions in key areas. |

The more Helis you create, the more Helis you have to support. SAB is going the way of Align on that issue...look where Align is now as compared to two years ago.
Not saying it won't happen but "trendy" sized Helis are not good for long term success...This is my opinion only, not the official position of MikadoUSA or Mikado Germany...

I dont think 380 are a passing trend, but the new norm. I liken it to when the 90 size came on the scene and completely eliminated the 60 size.

The old 380 is the new 420. The new 420 gets stretched to a 480, perhaps Mikado is just ahead of their time....

Why should Mikado make one when so many CLONE goblins are being sold. That would be the dumbest thing they could do. With SAB dropping the advertising here, says something.

Mikado ultimate goal is to have a all in one complete heli motor electronics line with the Mikado name on it. They want their own controllers the works. N I can't think of 1 other heli company to do it. Mikado V kontrol is first. Tt tried rebranding thing but never worked. Align tried their own controllers n it didn't work. V kontrol is the highest demanding controller on the market. And the only system that others sell all the other brands to buy into my opinion of course

Actually, never creating rescue did come out of their mouths.
I heard one of them say it in person at their factory V-Bar seminar at IRCHA in 2010 or 2011. That said, I'm 99% sure they will never make anything smaller than the Logo 400. Their niche is the 480-700 market. For those that have to have a smaller heli that flies very similar to a Logo, they can already buy one. It's called the Protos 380. Quote:
