Something brushless.

The Futaba 3072 seems to show up here often, likely because its cheap and HV. I use one and haven't had any problems.

Thought my throttle servo went bad but its the AR7300BX. The throttle servo doesn't work when plugged into TH channel. But when plug into other channels it works. For some reason the TH channel went bad on receiver.. So will be sending off to HH for repair.

Bought a futaba 3172hv for the throttle on my Agile gasser. It worked fine until one day as i was landing the motor started acting weird it was surging. I landed & the servo was jittering while sitting there. I found a small cut in the wire & cut bad section out & re soldered. On the bench it works fine. Went to start the motor up & and the servo went to full throttle all sudden. So would cause this to happen. Its a digital s-bus servo.

I have recently just went with an analog HV servo to try....

highly recommended you use a metal gear servo. the vibrations can eat up plastic geared servos.

Do you mean 3072? The 3172 is a low profile glider servo....

Anyway, vibrations actually make the MG servos wear out and get sloppy faster than plastic. Ive used plastic throttle servos for years and years (on planes also) without problems.

Iv'e got 3 of the 3072s on throttle duty. How did yours get a cut in the wire? Did it rub on the frame? Maybe it got shorted out due to th cut and that fried the circuit?

Funny, I just had a 3072 die on me at the field this past Sunday. Purchased new from Amain, just over a year old.

At first I thought my gov wasnt holding. After tinkering I realized the throttle channel wasn't acting right, just up and died shortly after.

Replaced it with another 3072 that I had gotten second hand, all is well now.

Yes it was a 3072hv. Think I accidently cut wire when removing a tie wrap. Was gonna send back to Futaba but would cost at least $20.00 for them to look at.

Still having throttle servo issues. Bought a Hitec HS430BH HV for my throttle servo. I was raising & lowering the collective & the throttle servo stops working. All other servo's working fine just the throttle servo quits. This is like the 3rd servo now to go out on me. Its getting annoying. I plugged in another servo to channel & it works fine. I don't know whats going on here...

I use Futaba BLS 257 for throttle. It is brushless miniservo.
I use it with small futaba regulator, but the servo is intended till 6V (but I use 2S LiFe = 6.6V)
I had the servo at home after selling my Gaui nx4.
Now, it has over 17hours in gasser + about 5hours as tail servo in NX4.

I was using an analog HV servo. According to Hitec that was the problem. Said I needed to be using digital. Said the analog can't handle anything below 13ms on frame rate... But I have a friend using same exact servo with his Futaba 14sg on his throttle servo & having no problems....But he does have it regulated back to 6.6v thou...

What receiver are you using and which channel(s) did you have the servo plugged into?

Many Futaba2.4GHz receivers have a "high speed output mode" that cannot be used with analog servos.

R6xxx receivers (i.e. R6008HS, R6208SB ) that do this will have a "digital servo only for HS mode" label like the below, and it only affects channels 1-6. Channel 7 and up remain on an analog compatible 50Hz/22ms frame rate even in high speed mode, so that might explain why changing outputs fixed it.

There is a procedure in the user manual to disable the high speed output mode, involving a sequence of link button presses and waiting for a certain sequence of LED blinks.

The R7xxx series FASSTest receivers also have a high speed mode, but its controlled by selecting the modulation scheme in the transmitter linkage menu. Setting it to the "FASSTest 12 channel" mode will enable high speed output that's analog incompatible (and also disables most telemetry)... All the other modes should work fine.

I’m using the 7300BX DSMX Receiver. I sold the helicopter and setting up the new owners DX-7 radio on it. It was setup on my 12x before. The servo is new and only had couple flights on it. Was just setting up radio. And throttle took a dump. I ordered a Savox 0220 HV to replace.

Oh, I got confused by the 14SG reference, thought you where on Futaba.

I dont know in that case, you should check the Spektrum documentation to see if they have any requirements for digital servos like Futaba.
