Default Could be the end

Hi All just a quick question the old K2 is getting to the end of its sell by date, things are getting sloppy and worn but I am wondering what to get in its place it would be good to use the electronics that are in the K2 the 3900 purple motor and esc the gyro the servo's and batts but I dont know what other heli would take the esky motor.

Hi BT
If I had my time over, I would have missed out the 450 stage and gone straight to a 500. They can be picked up cheap-ish on here often

& really do pull your flying through the 'air-lock'. I can hardly recognise where I am now compared to when you called in.

Flips - loops - roll-out-loops - stalls - all down to the 500 (which cost me £260 and was almost un-used).

So personally, I wouldn't spend anything on the K2 - save it for the next step.

Hey BT, We have come up in this hobby around the same amount of time, and gone through all the trials and fun of learning to deal with the K2's, if they could talk what stories they would tell, we probly have kept them and fixed them much longer than they were ever ment to be, I still like to take the old child out in the front yard and zip around, but it doesnt compare to letting the 500,600,700 loose at the club, like Keith if I had known what I do now I'd probly have skipped the 450 and gone right to the 500, it is a nice stable flying helio and will let your flying skills grow fast, and is cheep to fix in case of a BO BO, The 600,700 are just plain awsome helios but I realy like to fly the 500 and rip around trying the new manuvers with it first, lots of fun for sure----Fly Tight----Wrench

Thanks for the push all I have been thinking of moving up to a bigger class so as to get more flying in, the british weather as it is has only let me get airborn a half a dozen times this year because of the wind and the K2 just can't handle it.
I think I have found what I will be asking santa for, I know most of you like electric but I would still like to go nitro but maybe that will be the Christmas after this one.

Hey Big T,

I put my Esky 3900KV motor in my HK250GT. You need to shorten the shaft and get a 2.3mm (vs 2.5mm stock) pinion and file the motor mount slots to take the slightly larger motor bolts. Wow though, is the power ever awesome. I am running 4500 rpm head speed on it. All the rest will fit except the batteries. So you can go bigger with a 450 or 500 and smaller with the 250. The HK kits when you can get them, are $29 for a full CNC carbon frame heli. Really nice little units. The only change I made was a better belt (kevlar) and putting bearings instead of bushings in the flybar cage where it bolts to the head block. This eliminates any slop in the head. Also the King 2 skids are a nice addition.

You think the King zings around, the 250 really moves. I was flying it alot last year, not much this year, but it is always ready for those smaller spaces.
