Someone posted about the 'slowest' F6 build in history. I think I'm actually winning that title. I got my kit in October and I'm not done (new baby girl in September to focus on)

I need a little conversation about power. I'm a little out of the loop on rx pack vs BEC etc and need to know what to order.

I have the 560kv scorpion planning for 10S. 13T pinion

ESC will likely be a YGE 90HV, if that's enough?

Servos I may start out with 610s OR 8717s, doubt I do any HV things. BLS 251 on the rudder.

SO, do i do an rx pack or regulator or what?

From what I am hearing, this bird is KILLER on 10s. I built mine 12s just because I have so many 6s batteries already laying around.

As for servos, I put BLS451 cyclic and BLS251 Rudder BUT I have had GREAT luck with both 610s and 8717 servos. Either of those will be just great.

As for ESC, 90HV is plenty, I put an 80hv on mine.

OH and I am using a Castle Creations BEC PRO V3 mounted inside the frame next to the ESC and wired into my series plug to just pull 6S.

Slowest was me... Bought in last June, First flight 2 days ago. Was worth the wait!

Servos... 610s are being used HV by lots of folks here.
I went with the Outrage 9088/9188 HV
YGE 90HV ESC
WR Super BEC
10S with 4035-560
Skookum flybarless

I forgot to mention...
I'm using gov store on the YGE and with T-Curve at straight 78% I'm getting 2130 rpm with a 12tooth pinion.

Scorpion 4035-560 on 10S is a powerhouse, but using a Castle ESC I had to use a 14T pinion to go above 2200 RPM, when running governor mode. I'm not familiar with the YGE governor though.
I'm using a CC 80HV btw. Still can't get myself to fly off the main bats with a BEC, so I'm using a 2S lipo and a BEC Pro to step down to 6V. I do seriously consider going BEC only though.

That setup will work just fine. I run a Jive 80 on 12s and it is super cool running.

I had the same problem! I just didn't trust a BEC. Originally went with LiFE pack and regulator for the tail. Just last month I decided to put caution to the wind and dump the Life and use a BEC Pro. No regrets so far. Running off one of the 5S packs. I run that F6 with the 4025-550 and it flies well. Power enough for me at the moment. Just sold my backup F6 which ran the 4035-560. It still had the LiFe pack.
I am starting to build a Synergy E7 and will be putting the BEC pro in it.

Keep an eye on your BEC Pro. I had been flying my F6 using one for awhile, and one flight the motor just randomly spooled down and then started to come back up in slow start mode, as if the ESC rebooted. I autoed it and brought it back to the bench and was wiggling wires and such, I assumed maybe the throttle wire was loose. I wiggled the input wires to the BEC Pro, and the flybarless controller rebooted. Wiggling the input wires to the BEC Pro would make it lose power, obviously that would've been bad in flight.

I was curious so I took the case off of it, and the wires are only surface soldered, jiggling them resulted in them snapping off at the solder joint. This was a V2 BEC Pro. I had my BEC hard mounted to the frame with double-sided tape, and the wires were held to the frame near the unit as well for strain relief. I may have just gotten one with bad solder joints, but it's something to keep in mind. The BEC that I replaced it with at least has the wires soldered through holes in the board, instead of just on the surface.

I'm using a Scorpion 4035-560 with ICE2 80HV, for relevance.

This the WR Super Bec in question?

http://www.western-robotics.com/herc...er-BEC_hp.html

Just ordered the YGE 90HV and AR7200BX. Blades are in.

Now I just have to get the BEC and servos.

Yep, that's the bec that I'm using.
I made a typo in the servos I listed, I use the Outrage 9180 on cyclic and 9188 on the tail all at 8.4volts.

My setup is 4035-560, 13T, 10S, EC5 connector, BLS451, BLS256HV tail, Volt 2100 Lifepo4 pack(no regulator needed). ICE120HV, 600 or 620 mains, 105 tails. Head speed is 2150. Flies great.

Just a note for jadams: Although you are not having any issues (and many others aren't either) the BLS451's are NOT rated for service above 6.0v.

I may do the Life pack.

I had a giant scale plank and used an A123 pack and enjoyed how easy it was, probably cheaper than the $100 BEC too.

LiFe packs are 6.6 volts, not 6.0. You are endangering or shortening the life of your servos.

Thanks guys,

Went with the WR Super Bec and just picked up some Align 610s from a HF member.

This leaves tail server (BLS 251) and fabricating up the battery cable, and perhaps some servo extensions.

Anybody using APP's show me their cable?

This heli is beautiful top to bottom, really enjoy the craftsmanship, a lot of brands all begin looking the same to me but the F6 stands out to my eyes.
