Default TRex 500 Clones

I was looking at the Flasher 500 from www.snhobbies.com and was wondering if anybody had anything to say about this heli. Is it worth it or should I just break down and get the original Align version?

I have seen the HK500 and was not too impressed with it. But it's tough to overlook that price tag and just upgrade with Align parts. Any preference over a belt driven tail or the shaft tail?

The flasher and the EXI def look nice for the money. I ordered two HK500's and sold them the day they came in. There was no way I was going to run blades at close to 3000rpm with those plastic heads.

Yeah no kidding. Definately don't want that flying near your family at the expense of saving a few bucks. The TRex 500 ESP isn't a bad price but was serously considering the Flasher 500. I have heard good things about the Flasher 500. Is there anybody that flies this on a regular basis? Also, how different is it from a TRex 500 ESP?

What about the Protos 500 I've been looking at those maybe not the cheapest but I'd like to branch out from align since I currently have two.

The flasher 500 is an equivalent of the 500 ESP. You won't be disappointed except the main blades they give you are not great

I own a flasher and overall I'm very happy with it. There are a few parts that aren't interchangeable though. The one way bearing, tail shaft bushing, and the linkage rods are different, which means if you have to replace them, you also replace the parts attached to them. Otherwise everything else is a direct swap.

The bearings also need to be checked over and replaced as needed. Most of mine were pretty notchy. For the price difference between an esp and the flasher I was able to put a gy520 on and hitec MG's for the swash.

Do you have the older version of the Flasher? Acording to the newest version it is "supposed" to be 100% Trex compatible.

Yep, it's the newest version with the torque tube. It technically is 100% compatible in that every align part will fit it, just some require a few more parts than just the "1" that you need to replace.

I have the Flasher 500 and it is great. Get the package with the AKE motor - more power than the Align stock. It is *very* close to 100% Align T-Rex compatible, I have found one part (autorotation bearing) which didn't fit. Everything else seems to fit well (recent crash and replacement with Align parts showed that). The SN Hobbies version is the newer version, the older one was a loose copy or clone.

There is a very good thread over at RCGroups covering the Flasher 500: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1062559

Wow, the Flasher is definitely something I'll consider when it's time to purchase a 500.
