I got a Scorpion HK-4020-1100 for mine. It's a lot like the Z30-1110, but higher quality and more efficient from reports.

Ok guys

Jody Greer and I flew yesterday. With the NEU 1907- 1Y on the 6s 5000 pack , turning 1960! headspeed we flew 6 minutes of flying putting back 4100 mahs. The zpower setup would only allow for 5 minutes of flying with alot less power!!

1960 headspeed with 6s 6000 mah pack we got 7 1/2 minutes of flying putting back 5800 mah. <g>
What was crazy that the nominal voltage stayed at 22.5 volts. To be safe 7 minutes will be the flying point for the 6000 pack.

The motor temps were average at 108 degrees and battey was 107 to 114 degrees.

I strongly suggest the NEU 1907 1Y motor...

i feel this is the hot setup for this heli. It's way better than the zpower! I "bet" it's even better than that Scorpion. 1960 headspeed!!! Try that with your Scorpion!

Will the Jazz 55 work with that setup? or do you need the Jazz 80?

Thanks
Rick

Thanks Henry. I will let you know my results of the Scorpion. I can't wait to get my 550 kit in the mail!

Jazz 55 will not work.

A Jazz 80 may work fine with heat-sink mod and cooler ambient temps. I know people using them on Logo 500 helis, but are on the edge of thermaling quite often. It's really hot here in Texas and decided on the Castle 125 as it can take more heat.

I'm patiently waitng for the release of the Outrage-550 and reports from average users before I decide between the Outrage and the Compass. My biggest concern is not with quality, parts availability, or mechanical performance but rather with necessary minimum cell count required. I know the Outrage folks are marketing this heli as a 6s performance heli but I have to wonder about 6s on a 6-1/2 pound high performance heli???

I know others have questioned 6s verses 8s for this heli on this forum with differing opinions. Sure the perfomance is there with the 6s but how will 6s hold-up with high amp draws required for necessary performance? Other helis similar in weight and performance have already proven to be pack-killers on 6s!

I'm guessing component choices are gonna be crucial in achieving a balance that will not kill 6s prematurely. I hope this new Outrage will work well with 6s as it will make a large heli affordable for many that can't afford the cost of 8s & 10s. Time will tell as with all things.

Remember the 550 is more like a mikado 500 which runs on 6S as well and not like the T600E.

The Team has hundreds of flights on the current 6S 5000ma packs, we are now experimenting with some 6S 5300 packs, Henry likes the NEU motor he is testing. the 6S system is working great for this heli, most that flew 3S and 4S on 450 size helis have a charging system that will handle 6S.

The Outrage 550 is the same as the logo 500 in term of size. A 6s 5000 pack is appropriate for this size of heli.

For the price of a battery pack, I understand that manufactures suggest prices based on the total ENERGY of a battery. For example:

A 6s 5000 mAh pack will have the amount of energy of:

6cell x 3.7volt/cell x 5000 mAh = 111000 mWh = 111 Wh (more than a normal laptop battery contains)

An energy-equivalent pack would be 12s 2500 mAh

12cell x 3.7volt/cell x 2500 mAh = 111000 mWh = 111 Wh

Both of the packs have the same total energy; therefore they are going to be priced relatively the same. Going for higher cell count doesn't mean going for more power and more money but one must account for the battery's total energy. And of course, you have to choose appropriate motor and ESC also. High-voltage ESCs usually cost more but not that much more.

One very good thing about running high voltage is that you will get better efficiency and everything will be cooler.

I'm thinking of going 12s 2500mAh for my next Outrage 550. We'll see.

The good thing about 6S 5000 and 12S 2500 is it reuses packs that people probably already have. T-Rex 500 users will have 6S 2500s in abundance. T-Rex 600 owners will have 6S 5000s and can convert. The same isn't true of 8S unless (like me) you got fed up with pack killing on the 600 and stepped up to 8S.

The Scorpion to use to rival the NEU is the 4020-1390kv, it has 300W more power available than the 1100kv and is rated to a much higher continuous amp rating. The 1100kv Scorpion to looks ok but I can't see it being a particularly hot setup.

I have the new Scorpion 4025 prototype here that I'm testing and feeding back on before it becomes a production motor, that definitely will be a very hot setup on 6S. It's pretty crazy in my 600 so the 550 will be a breeze on the same packs.

The 550 will smoke a 600 on 6s. I will be testing the 1910 in my other 550 this weekend . See if thier's any difference..

6S 5000 on a 550mm bladed heli of this weight has been proven for some time with the Logo. I have both a Logo500 and a Trex600 that use the same packs and the performance difference is insane. With the Outrage being similar weight the 6S 5000 packs will be the sweet spot. If you were to design a heli around one of these packs you'd end up with with a 550mm sized bird like the Outrage.

My two in comparison on 6S 5000:

Logo 500 (same weight and blades as the Outrage 550)
Weight: 6.25lbs
550mm blades
HS 2350 in normal at 70% governed. 2490 in idle 2 at 80% governed

Trex 600
Weight: 7.5lbs
600mm blades
HS 2000 non governed at 100% TC

As you can see there is plenty of power on tap with headroom on the 550 sized bird even at insanely high HS. In fact with a new Outrage pack I don't even switch into idle 1 or 2. I only use those two flight modes for my batteries that have 100+ cycles on them to keep the HS around the same spot.

Would the scorpian 4025-890 be a good setup for this heli? How would this compare to the z30?
Thanks

HC i will go with the Neu, but i will hold you to it's awesomeness The 1910H looks kind of heavy and the low KV will need a rather large pinion.

haha i just noticed HD has the 1907H listed as only having 285W, alittle off
