I have 2 more questions. I am thinking of going with a Cool Kosmik 200 with a Pyro 850-40 Comp power system on 14S. And for servos I would like to go with the MKS X8 series.

So my questions:

1) Would the Pyro 850 fit? My guess is yes since the frame width is 64mm and the motor is 63.

2) I know Synergy uses an innovative carbon servo arm attachment. Has anyone tried those with the MKS X8s? i.e. do the X8s come with circular horns that fit the Synergy CF attachments?

I would like to order these components first and have them with me before ordering the kit.

Thanks a lot.

1. Yes fits great and there is an 8mm 13t pinion coming, should be available on release day.

2. I know plenty of people running the X8s on their Synergy helicopters. There are a couple of ways to to do. A: use the supplied horns, one of the holes is at 19.5 which will work well. B: take the smaller metal round horn and drill holes in the CF arm to match the bolt pattern. I am sure there is a 3rd or 4th option too, and others will jump in.

Getting the geometry isn't a problem, what the stock horns offer is crash protection for your servos and shock protection for the head linkage.

The X8 servos have more throw than others so I have found I have had to go in1.5 to 2mm on servo horns with them to get the resolution right for the Vbar. With my E5s I had to go in to 18mm and used the MKS one peice metal horns, it will depend on your FBL unit and what it needs.

You can't go wrong buying any Synergy helicopter. They are engineered for easy maintenance and fly even better. Make the jump and welcome to Synergy!

I run X8 servos and I use the round aluminum hubs sold separately from MKS along with carbon horns from Custom Heli Parts. (just like the stock Synergy setup)

I have moved my set of X8's to my Protos Max 800 as they were overkill in my E5s. I needed to go to16mm arms for it (recommended is 18mm) to get the throws right for the Vbar and also used the Custom Heli Parts horns and MKS hubs as Danny has shown. They are a very good option, you can pick the horn distance you need and they have 2mm and 3mm thick carbon options so you can choose to use them as a fuse point or have the thicker ones that are strong enough for my 800. You can see the ones in the picture are 2mm thick like the stock Synergy ones, my 3mm ones are level with the top of the hub.

The only issue is that on some models the hubs are so big they contact with the Heli. It looks like the Synergy models are no issue but I had to invert my elevator servo on the Protos and they will not fit on the SAB Helis.

Got the a bit more done today. Chose to stay with the MKS horns so I drilled and tapped one hole to 3mm. Head is all setup. Im a big fan of the RMQ Kosmik connectors, doesnt get any cleaner than that. Other than running wires, I am done for now!

Dan,

It looks like you have mounted the ESC plate under the frame spacers as opposed to on top. Was that to give more clearance for the Kosmik under the canopy?

Looks beautiful Dan. Here is a pic of mine next to my E5. Hope this shows the size difference between the two. Also have my cigar box out for the successful first flights.

Aziz, when I had this Kosmik in an E7 I started moving the tray under the posts. For this build it was not necessary, but, I still like the way it sets the unit down an extra 1/4 inch.

Greg, a buddy was over last night and I had the tail loosely installed, its long. Then I told him the 800 boom is even longer! Its a beast
