Default DX-9 GPS switch setup ideas.

I am setting up the GPS1 unit on my 450. Just wondering what switches others have allocated to GPS and what they have those switches setup to do?
Just looking for ideas really, I am only using the GPS for bail out.
Also do I still need to setup the self level on the 720? Surely the GPS unit takes over all of that?

Hi CZorzela
So you have the GPS bailout assigned to switch "A" and "C".
Did you achieve this by assigning your GPS switch1 to 2 channels?
I can't function Aux4, it is functioning on the radios monitoring screen but not in the SK-720 setup program.
I have a satellite receiver plugged into my SK-720 not a standard receiver. Is this my limiting factor?
If so can I get the setup below with mixing?
A: Bail out (GPS Rescue Now + SL Always On 200% on cyclic #2)
D: 0=Manual 1=GPS Rescue HF [1A] 2=GPS Rescue Now[1B]
E: 0=Manual 1=GPS Position Hold[2A] 2=Return Home[2B]

I have assigned the following
Gear = Cyclic Bank / Gain
Aux2 = GPS Switch 1
Aux3 = GPS Switch 1
Aux4 = GPS Switch 2 (wont activate on the SK-720 setup program)

I also have Spektrum DSMX Sats directly connected to the SK720

I have Tail Bank/Gain to Gear
Cyclic Bank/Gain to Aux2
GPS Switch 1 to Aux3
GPS Switch 2 to Aux4

On GPS Setup I have
Switch 1 Modes as "Rescue - H Floor" and "Rescue - Now"
Switch 2 Modes as "Position Hold" and "Return Home"

On Cyclic 2, I have Self-Level set to "Always On" (200%)

I have both bailout options "Sk720 SL" and "Rescue Now" on switch A. I've attached my DX18 SPM file so that you can take a look how this is done. In order to use it, simply import it to a new model in your DX9 or DX18 transmitter.

If you take a look at the mixings menu, you'll notice some sequencer related mixing to add positive collective pitch (climb) regardless of the collective stick, right after "Rescue Now" is completed. This can be tweaked, and it won't work for inverted rescue. I recommend you exercise extreme care before enabling this function. If you don't fully understand the implication of how it works, then you shouldn't enable it.

Cheers for that Carlos,
It looks like I have managed to get it all working, in the software anyway. I mixed the Gear and Aux2 channels and assigned it to switch "A". It is my first attempt at mixing and seems to be working, I don't see any collective input when I function the switch.
If you could possibly check it for me I would appreciate it.

So now I have the following.

Switch "A": Bail out (GPS Rescue Now + SL Always On 200% on cyclic #2)
Switch "D": GPS1, 0=Manual ,1=GPS Rescue Now, 2=GPS Rescue H Floor
Switch "E": GPS2, 0=Manual, 1=Position Hold, 2=Return Home
Switch "F": Flight Modes, 0=Normal, 1=Stunt1, 2=Stunt2
Switch "H": 0=Throttle Cut On, 1=Throttle Cut off

Cheers,
Graeme

Well, just managed to get a short forward flight in at the school just down the street. Just wanted to check the setup for the GPS unit.
All appeared good, didn't try any of the bail out settings, but position hold worked fine, with about a 1 meter variation in height. Switched on return home, heli turned around, and came back. Switched back to position hold before it went back to tail in.
So in general pretty happy. Just have to get one for my 550 now.
