thanks for the link, gonna check it out for sure...i have the owners manual. it is more about how to fly a heli and how it works. i have the hard copy and the pdf version... it has a few sections about blade tracking, blade balancing and so on, but i think its not so detailed and easy to understand if you have never done it. i went to the e-flite website in hopes for "how to's" but was disappointed. nothing much on there. i am in the R/C hobby for a while now, mainly cars. i am used to building and fixing guides for specific models being all over the place...i am sure they are out there for the blade cp pro 2 as well, i just have to find them. : )
i was somewhat frustrated right after it crashed. i saw it coming though. you cant just take a R/C heli and fly it all day long without disaster waiting to happen, ha ha. that is for a beginner though... i moaned for a bit and got over it... i always thought that it takes hardcore tools and science to fix a heli but after i watched a few videos about balancing blades, i was surprised to see that its not rocket science...! its doable...i just need some patience... once again, thanks for all the info and for welcoming me to the world of helis!!! but seriously, i was gonna get a pitch gauge and a blade balancer...none of them have to be high tech, right? i found this: http://h1070313.hobbyshopnow.com/pro...?prod=AGNH1004 and http://h1070313.hobbyshopnow.com/pro...?prod=EFLH1000 should do the job... thanks, G |

I have the same pitch gauge. I believe that Align blade balancing tool is for a 450 class bird and is too large for your blades. Don't ask me how I know this.
I tried to use the pitch gauge once according to directions I found in a video. I found it to be just too troublesome and awkward. I just eyeball my pitch adjustments now. I balance my blades using a digital scale, straight edge, and cello tape. Again, good luck. ~Quack!

Neavissa congrats on sticking with it. I feel like these guys are bing at least a little harsh (or blunt) but helpful.
It is my oppinion that almost any heli can be a good first heli as long as care and patients is observed. I started with a tiny micro mosquito from radio shack, then moved up to a E-Sky Lama V4 and after that got an Align TREX 450. A bunch of the guys said the 450 was a terrible choice for a first CP Heli, but it was the nicest heli I could afford to not only buy but feed parts, batterys, tools, gear, into. I suggest you do what I do, and I am guessing you probably are. Search and read. These forums are a huge help in that most of your questions have already been asked and answered 10 times in these forums. One other great resource is Youtube I learned about this one late in the game, but there is some great stuff there. It sounds likr you haver been flying planes for a while and even drivng cars alsp helps bake in some of that nose in oddness that your brain has to cope with. I am still pretty new myself, but the main thing that has helped me I think more than anything else is RealFlight. I didn;t have a transmitter at the time so I got RF and flew it alot. I just purchased Phoenix Sim today to use with my DX6i, both programs have their pro's and cons, but I think you mentioned that you already had a SIM. Anyway congrats on your CP Pro 2. If you don;t already have them get yourself some training gear and look up Miky's RC on yourtube. He has some great helicopter hover trainer to help beef up those hover skills. - J

HeliDragon,
Thanks for welcoming me; i am used to being treated that way in certain forums. it never gets old. i am surprised myself that i am sticking to it! i was pretty bumped the first hour or so after i crashed, but that changed once i ordered the parts and looked forward to installing them. wrenching is part of the hobby. it also helped watching some 101 videos and like you mentioned, youtube is great. i also wasn't sure if should have gotten the blade 400 instead...i saw a good deal online for 400 with free shipping...but it was all the way in Florida and i am in Utah right now...didn't wanna wait so i went to the LHS and got the blade cp pro2...i am used to better radios but that alright. getting the futaba 10C for my birthday in December : ) i had a sim for a while now. not using it all the time but ofter enough to know how to fly a heli...not so much in reality, LOL... i looked into getting a heli a while ago and made myself familiar with it. i had one 15 years ago but that doesn't count as i never got it to fly longer than 20 seconds, ha ha... we have this cool r/c airport in LA. used to hang out there all the time. that helped. i ordered the parts that broke and a training gear. i also have to read the manual again. i made the mistake and flew in stunt mode, so when it tilted and i went all the way down with the collective, it didn't help much...once the blades hit the ground, it was to late. it took me a while to realize why the blades are still spinning, ha ha... the gyro didn't really work either. if it would have, i would have not crashed. it really through me off... thanks, G |

don't judge your flying skill from a simulator. and a cp pro 2 is definately NOT a good first helicopter
if you crash and break your blades, you may have done more damage you cant see. especially if you forgot to turn the throttle off. check everything before starting it up again. |

Congrats! You're doing great!
There's too much pucker factor for me to fly/hover indoors for this size heli. I did it once when I was learning and hit a piece of furniture. Outdoors and blue skies is where she's meant to be. |

But go ahead and make a generalized statement! If ignorance is bliss, how come you didn't ignore me and had to leave a comment? G |

For all you haters out there...
...just crashed for the second time.
damage report: rotor shaft bent - rotor shaft is easy, just did it the other day... frame cracked - i can glue it. it broke evenly. no big deal... tail boom in half - getting that sucker out is a pain. "luckily" the frame broke at the spot where the tail boom connects, so it came out by it self...the part where the tail gearbox connects, sucks. i read about using debonder to get if off. i might buy the whole thing... blades chipped - just gonna replace them...they hit the tail... so how did i crash? i rushed into it. didn't take my time. when i hover at home or in the lobby, i am focused and have everything under control. not this time. i went outside and looked for a big grassy spot. didn't like the one i had in mind so i kept looking. after finally finding something more suitable, i got out of the car and 30 sec later it was done!!! how stupid...gosh, what an idiot!!! so, what happened?! i got out and hooked everything up... the gyro felt funny right away... instead of getting a good hover going, i took off right away and got pretty high, pretty fast... that scared me a bit so i must have pulled to hard back on the collective... that caused the heli to drop fast and spun the tail around which freaked me out, because i am way better if the nose is pointing away from me...as every beginner... in fear of loosing control, i pulled up again and the same thing happened again. too high, too fast... coming down, the tail spun around again and screwed me up again... then somehow the heli came straight towards me, above my head though and i let it go by... after realizing that it flew buy backwards i almost lost it... i stayed cool and decided to bring it in... i was about a foot of the ground when it suddenly dropped and hit the ground... i had cut the throttle right away but not fast enough... the blades hit the tail and did the rest... ALL THIS IN THE DARK!!! no wonder i lost orientation!!!! what the...??? G |

A person with your skill level should not be spooling up in the front room is my point. You won't know just how dangerous that can be until you have an event, thus the reason for my "ignorance is bliss comment". Once you know better you will not take such chances. Don't forget about safety, Dood! Now take a really deep breath!

i am not sure what spooled up means?! if it means, what i think it does, it wasn't. i am not flying in stunt mode. i am flying it in "normal mode". i never disagreed with you, that this kind of flying might be dangerous. i don't disagree with anything you say. i just don't like it!!! there is no need for that! period. i am sure every newbie feels that way! you wouldn't talk to a kid, that doesn't know better, that way (at least i hope you don't). why talk to a newbie that way?! i am asking myself that question all the time, when i am being treated that way by someone in a forum?!?! its always the same type of guy... i am sure you know the saying: "there is always an asshole in a group, and if you look around and cant see him, then you know its YOU!" think about it... G p.s. thanks for the medical advice doc, but i don't need to take a deep breath, i am doing just fine! p.s.s. anyone is welcome and appreciated to leave comments about safety...the tone makes the music... thanks, G |
