Well.. i didnt notice any change of a better gov. Even on my 700.
My 450 i went back to 3.27 cause i really dislike the initial spoolup on 4.01b.

On my 700E i'm very happy with just flying on fixed endpoints. Better power then the
gov.. no doubt.

But maybe i still have some more tweaking to do

1 Scorp 3026-1400kv
2 Scorp 3026-1900kv motors...
ICE 100
I had an issue yesterday where one of my 500's almost didnt start at all. Its been hesitating still on 4.01, start up power is 100...I might go back to the previous version. Might try changing the 8 KHz back to 12KHz first and try that.

I loaded v4.0.1 to my CC25 ESC in my 250 and it exhibited the stuttering issue with the viper motor on startup. It took a while for the motor to spin up. I am using default start power setting for now. I will try to increase it to max. and see whether it will solve the startup issue.

Default 401 Beta

Upgraded to the 4.01beta ran fine for 4 or 5 flights. Now it wont start at all just spins enough to turn the blades about 100 rpm.

settings- Initial spool up rate-med,5
head speed change-custom,10
Gov Gain-18
motor start power,90
motor timing-1
pwm-12

Should i make any changes?

I found that setting had no effect from 59 to 100. Running the new compass 7hv motor.

Hi,

I tested v4.01 today in my 600EFL Pro. It worked fine. I did follow the recommendation of using a higher value for the Initial Spool Up Rate from the recommended value of 59 to 65. It's worked fine and I believe I can set it to 59.

I had to reduce the governor gain from the recommended value of 15 to 14 because I could hear some noise in the gears.

One thing that surprised me is I set IDLE 1 to 2245 and IDLE 2 to 2358, and the system was able to maintain 2358 fairly well, even with the small head room it has using that headspeed. I checked the log and the power output wasn't clipped much, just in some occasions.

I'll keep flying the heli and if I find something else, I'll post the findings.

Thanks.

David

John,

I wonder why the timing is so different between motors. You're running your timing at 1? I'm running a Compass 540kv motor at 18 on the timing with my ICE2 80HV and 4.01 firmware. I had to set governor gain to a custom value halfway between low and medium in order to eliminate oscillations. It maintains HS to within 300 RPM during hard maneuvers and disc unloading.

I can't remember what forum i was on and read that this was the setting for the 4.01 version.I'm think this was from CC. I'm going to try the 100% on start power and if that doesn't help i think I'll go back to the 3.27 version and try that again.

The numbers for "timing" in Castle's software are not really the same as 'degrees from zero'. Zero in the software is probably more like 8 to 10 degrees but I'm just guessing. Most folks run 0 to 5 on high performance motors in the motor timing box of the Castle software. Unless there is something very different in your Compass motor, 18 for motor timing is well beyond what most folks run in Castle ESCs. Governor gain is usually good between 8 and 12 for most 600 to 700 ships.

Thank you.

I'll try timing a bit lower next time to see if there's a power increase. Maybe it's still over-timed.

What's the purpose of outrunner mode? Maybe it sets the "optimum" timing regardless of what motor it's connected to?
