I drill stainless all the time, cobalt bits, a good cutting fluid, and go slow. If your bit is sharp , you should hear it chipping bits off .

HA, Welcome to the hobby machinist hobby!. I have a small machine shop in the basement that I make small parts on. I have a 10X21 lathe and mini-mill, mostly what I have made are.

Motor/engine mounts. Made a lot of them custom so they are as light as possible

Air Cylinders. I have made lots of tiny custom sized air cylinders for models.

Engine conversions. I have converted a whole fleet of gas weed eater engines over to airplane engines with electronic ignition.

glow engine repairs, I have fixed a lot of stripped glow plug holes for people with the time-sert 1/4-32 thread repair inserts.

I can also cut MOD 1.0 and 1.5 gears.
