Default Keep E7 or add 2nd TDR?

My TDR is my favorite out of my TDR, E7, and Xxtreme. I do like the E7 as a quick/smack setup, although I am not a true smack flyer. I do like to fly a little smack here and there though. Should I sell the E7, and add another TDR, and set one up for mellow 3d like with 800mm blades, and the other as a screamer? Anybody tried a TDR with 690's? I love my TDR at 1850, but I also like it at 2050 too........

If I were you I'd sell the E7 when the Logo 700 arrives and get that. News about it will be released in 2 weeks.

Avoid the 800 TDR, no good reviews about it. I talked to Curtis Y about it at OHB 2011 and he told me he stopped flying it after going 800 and that he wanted to go back to 700 to fly it again.

yeah well I fly 690's prefer them over the longer blades, even for speed. But re your question, better to have different helis than more of the same, especially if you like your e7. I sold my 3rd tdr bought 7 hv and 720 e, won't trade them for anything, I have my tdr days but then when I feel crazy I fly these at 2200 headspeeds and scare myself and my buddies out of our wits. But there is an option for a second tdr, if you like very slow 3 d an argument can be made for this, I just finished rewinding a slow kv (310 kv) monster for my 2nd one, will let you guys know how I like it. Tdr being probably the lightest 90 out there's is ideally suited for this application.
Btw if you wanna fly at higher than, 2000 on tdr better watch those 4 mm. blade bolts, mine bent, some drill them out to 5mm, I won't recommend this except if done professionally as it's very difficult to widen an existing hole by 1 mm. precisely.

How about a Diabolo? It seems a few TDR people have one and really like it!

I'd keep E7. It's great heli (actually I was about to buy one right before I got an opportunity to buy a TDR), accepts pretty much any power system without any problems - but you know that already.

Only minus of E7 is belt drive (for some people), but TT kit is reportedly coming out very soon.

TBH, I still want E7 after buying a TDR - I've heard Synergy will have a 550 model as well.
I am not expert, but having seen Synergy in action flown by a really good pilot, I don't think TDR can be ever made to fly as hard as E7 without serious compromises. As said here and in the manual, 2000+ HS on TDR is quite risky. It's just different type of helicopter.

Just my 2 cents.

As you own both, shouldn't you be in a perfect position to answer your own question...?

I would not get a second of either, don't see the need for "identical" machines.
I'd rather sample another flavour...

Yes, you are right.....I was able to fly all three again today, and they all fly differently. I am going to keep the E7 and use it as more of a "smack" machine, even though I don't fly that much hard 3d. It's also cheaper to repair, so I guess if I am feeling like pushing my limits, it will be the one.....I am just still so amazed at the gracefulness of the TDR, that it's hard to fly anything else, but it does not make sense to have 2, you guys are right.....Now if I can somehow hide the Diabolo threads......Thanks all for the feedback!!!Jake

I'd certainly look at the Diabolo as a running mate, it handles 2000+ no probs and is a little quicker on cyclic due, I think, to the higher lipo nearer CG. I enjoy my TDR with light setup, Pyro and 35-45C packs and the grunt power train, 4530 and 60C packs inthe Diabolo.

Yeah I am starting to think the same. I've been thinking of trying to find a black 700-52 for my TDR and pulling the Xera for maybe a Diabolo. Any idea where I can find a black 700?

B/E is only sold as motor/ESC combo, ordered directly from Kontronik.

Probably not to many available in the classifieds either...

I saw that. Kind of a hefty price when all I am looking to do is shed a little weight. Not a big deal anyway, I really like the Xera anyway.
