So did you use a pinion/belt/main gear combo from another heli?

Hello !

NO, this are not the parts of some other heli

This is full customization wich I designed and made it by my selve.

The belt is typ HTD 3M 14mm wide ( high torque drive ), the puleys and the motor trager are from 7075 AL grade.

The hole sistem is havier from the standard gears fo 20 Grams

Hear is some more pics :

WOW nice job, are you selling them? Do you think it can handle more power? What about gearing changes?

I would be interested in trying this out. Great concept.
It works really well on my Voodoo, and I am guessing it would work well on a TDR too.

Hello !

Much, much more Power and load than delrin spiral gears !

The belt can take 2000N of load before breakink ( datasheet) and I have alsoo make some test on the pulley and it seems puley can take 100000N before plastic deformation, the picture wich is attached is calculated on 200000N.

Ewerything seems too run silenter and there is one positive ( side efect... I must admit ), the belt takes prety much temparature from motor pulley, this temparature transfer thrue the belt to the bigger pulley wich have holes inside............because the biger pulley rotates too it cools down automaticly.....so the hole sistem runs cca 15 deg cooler, wich is good on TDR where is cooking tempatature unter the canopy.

Regards

Wow! Probably the best upgrade one could ever do on a TDR! I would definitely get one should this become available. Pretty sure some other UK pilots would want this too.

Curious to know a few things:

Is the belt a commonly available belt that was originally produced for something else or is it custom as well?

What would the gear ratio of this set-up be?

Is the motor pinion custom as well?

Will different pinions be available to accomodate different kv set-ups?

While I don't have my TDR yet, I am still very interested in this drive system but, with the TDR already being a somewhat "custom" heli, in that parts are only available thru Jan in Germany, the thought of having a "super custom" drive system that may or may not have a limited production run has me kinda nervous about future availability.
I guess one could just buy a couple set-ups so that they would have spares.

Great work HSC and thanks Edvard for putting in the "leg work" to try to get these produced!

J.

I was thinking the same, i think 90 percent or more users would have no issues with stock gear

So we just had a helifreak user sit down and design a improvment over the TDR design, rumored to be the best engineered helicopter in the world? Seems most think they are amoung the very best designed helicopters in the world, and I'm slightly worried that suchs a important issue exsists, and that it takes a helifreak user to sort it.

Don't think anybody "needs" this, but it is amazingly cool nonetheless. One of those things that are just bling-bling and great function at the same time.

Again, I really like this system on my Voodoo, and I look forward to trying it out on a TDR too. HSC did a great job on this.
