Does the Align 50 Hyper use the same bearings as the OS 50 Hyper. Since it's a copy, I'm assuming it should.

Since I'll have to replace the bearings in the motor eventually anyway, what are the best bearings for this motor?

Yes i think the bearing are the same, I just replaced the bearing in one of my OS 50 Hyper's try RC-bearing .com very nice bearing at a good price.

There's some debate about using ceramic bearings in engines. The balls have the potential to shatter, which would definitely not be good for the engine. Stainless steel would be safer. Ceramics are fine for shaft bearings, etc.

I have sold hundreds of ceramic bearing sets. I have sold many more stainless steel sets!

My ceramics are working just great. No issues. Was a bit hesitant at first after reading some posts in the forums. I had to use one finally because I had no other at the time of the last rebuild. I'd use another... no problem.

I recently (within the past two weeks) replaced the stock bearings in my TT53 with a set of ceramics with stainless steel rings from rc-bearings.com. Although I've only managed a couple of flights with the new bearings, I gotta say my engine runs noticeably smoother and quieter (sure, the original bearings were worn). I haven't had a lot of time with them yet, but so far I'd say it was an excellent upgrade for only $32. Coincidentally, the TT53 and the O.S./Align share the same bearing sets according to rc-bearings.com.

I always wondered: can you hear it at idle or only upon spool up. I swapped out my bearings preemptively while I had the engine out for other purposes.

I heard mine go bad at idle. One day it just sounded a little off. I was on my 10th gallon before hearing it. It diddnt even sound all that bad. Ive heard descriptions of engines sounding like coins rattling in a can. Upon taking it apart, the bearings proved to be bad.

The rear bearing on my align 50 has lateral movement in it and I am told it will influence the 'timing' of the engine ad the side effect is reduced torque even though RPM is maintained .

It had about 5 gallon though the engine but that was the result of flying on clay field which the dust mixed with nitro become liquid sand paper.

If you want to check the bearings, at idle put the tip of a plastic handled screw driver (I actually use a 6mm ball driver) on the backplate and put your ear on the handle.

I have been told these engines have a tendency to eat the rear bearing due to a very slight misalignment in the case. I wonder if there is a self aligning bearing that would work for this motor that would fix that. The kart engine builders have been using those bearings forever, especially if they have an engine they can't get the crank perfectly straight on.

I'm a total newb so I didn't even now there was a bearing in the motor... Only bearing I noticed was on the shaft of the motor.. the one way bearing.. So this bearing is in the motor itself?
