I'm not even sure what you're referring to. If you can elaborate more about it I'll get a clue.
generally using stuff that is un-obtanium means that you spend a lot of time setting everything up so it works perfect, then you crash, can't get any more of it and spend a lot of time making something that is available work like you want.

Hi Carey,
Considering to test Century V5? it looks like 1.5 Oz ligther than RJX... That makes it 2nd heaviest muffler. But have no clue about how it sounds...

hey there, oh I see it on their website
don't know anybody that has one yet. I do have an actual sound meter now instead of using a smart phone app (which didn't work well enough)

Carey any word on how the RJX is doing, staying on, not leaking, sound compared to the Hatori. Im getting things together for the WhipGas. I have a Hatori ordered. Need to send the RC230 in to be modded to a 260. Dave

I don't run the RJX, something about the back pressure causes my engines to get a case of the wah-wahs at high RPM's. The Hatoris have never caused that so I stick with them
I know of at least one case where some of the baffling inside the RJX has come loose and rattled around but I dunno if thats an isolated problem or common. As far as just staying on, they copied the Hatori mounting method which seems to stay put so I suspect that won't be a problem Its a $100 muffler made in china, you're guess is as good as mine as to how durable it will be in the long run.

I "had" the RJX and you just can't beat that thing for being quiet. It just purrrrrs!! I've never heard a Hatori but I can tell you it's worlds quieter that the rear mount Vario mufflers. I never had a problem with it loosening up or anything coming loose inside either. The only problem I had was that it melted off in mid air. I believe it was caused by the motor having air leaks and getting hot but I would think it should hold up better than that. The metal on most of the muffler is really thin. So I'm flying when all of a sudden the heli gets really loud and the muffler is hanging at a 45 degree angle by about 1" width piece of metal just behind the thicker ring where it attaches to the motor. I'm going to fix it and reinforce it and may even get another I liked the sound so much and you can't beat the price.....if it will hold up. Maybe I can pop rivet a soup can around it for added strength. I can't comment on performance as I don't really do anything hard with my helis. I'm more of a scale flyer with some light aerobatics thrown in. The muffler was on a Bergen Intrepid EB running a stock Zenoah G26. Next time I will add a support to the rear of the can at least.

Exhaust
I think I'll stick with the Hatori The one on my Spectra has been trouble free since I installed the stainless adapter. just don't like the price though.

definitely the most expensive muffler............but I've NEVER had any problems with it affecting how the motor runs even at very high RPMs. Almost all of the others I tried had some impact as the RPMs got into the 14K range.

Century V5
I recieved my order for the Century V5 muffler and am very disappointed with the lack of quality in this muffler, pitted end cap and pitted welds around the manifold.
I have the V2 and it very good quality in comparison to the V5. Very disappointed. I really believe this would leak oil if I tried to use it so I am returning it to the vendor. |

I'm looking at one right now, its quality seems okay
They have a one year warranty for workmanship, I suggest you contact customer service at century and discuss having it replaced

Im going to call the vendor where I purchased and see if he will send another or
a refund. I really cant believe Century let this one out the door. In my opinion it is that bad. They do have a warranty on workmanship and defects so it should be corrected. |
