Default How to increase flight time

Hello Helifreak members, I would like to know how to get more flight time out of my bird. Currently, I am only getting about 2 minutes of flight. On my bird, I have a Scorpion motor HKII-2221-6 with a Scorpion 55A ESC thats running a 12T pinion gear; the head speed, last I checked before decreasing my throttle, was at 3500rpm. In one of Finless video, he mentioned that by dropping to a lower teeth pinion gear, flight time might increase. If so, how much? Are there other possible solutions? Any input in helping resolve this issue will be appreciated... Thnx

I am running a -8 scorpion and getting 5½ mins out of it with a 13 tooth pinion and a 3300rpm head speed(no I am not govened). This is useing 3s 2200 25C turnigy nano batteries. There are a few on here getting 4½+ mins govenerd at 3200rpms

I run the 2221-6 on an 11t pinion and get 3.5mins for about 80% of the battery. 2221-6 is not the motor to use if you want longer flight times (though dropping to 11t will help). 2221-8 will get you longer flight times, but it depends if you want your heli to be ballistic stay with the -6, if you want longer flight times go with -8 on13t or lower the pinion.

I have just installed the 11T pinion gear today and I agree with you; my flight time is at 3.5 minutes. Thank you for responding to my thread.

Reduced headspeed will give you increased flight time.
I get 6:00 min. from a 2200 / 35C pack.
No hard 3D, just n00b sports flying.

Is the speed controller overheating and shutting down? I have had that happen. Are the batteries in good condition?

Now over 10mins. I can get up to 13mins, before the lipo alarm goes beeping..
So, I set the radio to a 10min countdown.

My setup is almost identical and so are the times. Unless You are doing tic tocs, You don't need screaming headspeeds. Your batts, bearings, etc. will last longer, too. The Jazz governor is magical. I'm running a 80% flat throttle on it.
