The shims sound like the way to go. Thanks for the tip. My gears seem to last but eliminating the slop would be nice.

What diameter do I need?

Does anyone have a pic of their shims installed? I'm pretty sure I understand what I have to do but a pic would be great.

I found a video of the shims on the KDE site. I also picked up their tail case kit which includes the shims.
