Default Funny sound

Hi folks

I was out today with my 450 and started hearing a strange sound. I only have about 10 flights on the bird and all previous experience was with micros. It's pretty gusty today...about 10kmh winds with gusts over 20.

So I'm flying east/west over the field with a west wind. With the wind and side in there was no noise, but each time I turned into the wind there was a high pitch sound that would slowly taper off before the downwind leg.

Any ideas what was causing it? I landed after the first noise and inspected her but found nothing wrong. Took off again and no noise until turning into the wind in FFF.

Sort of hard to tell. It could be that it is your tail rotor that you are hearing. That would explain why it is easier to hear one direction vs the other. With the higher wind, your tail will have to work harder to hold the heading. If your gain is too high, it can sound a little angry as well! Just throwing out a couple ideas.

It wasn't continuous while flying into the wind. It would start about mid turn and then last for 1-2 sec into FFF then stop.

I had lowered my gain before flight due to the wind. It was holding better in the side wind today then it was the last time I flew with a cross wind.

Could it just be the wind coming off the airframe giving it a whistle of sorts?
