Go with 9.5V to be safe. Mine charges to 11.8-11.9V if I leave it charging all night. Typically I show up at the field with about 11.0V. You'll notice that the discharge voltage isn't linear; in other words if you charge to 11.8V it gets down to 11V fairly quickly, it always drops to 10.5V fairly quickly, but you'll get hours of use from 10.5V to 9.5V. This battery isn't that bad, although lots of folks upgrade to lipo. There 2200mAh options that aren't lipo that will increase your flight time without the risks that come with using lipo with your Tx. I fly all day with the stock battery, but I do take a charger to the field with me and use it occasionally.

The book for the non-SE version says do not fly below 9.0v. At that point you will get an audible alarm for a few seconds then "LOW BATTERY" appears/remains where the bargraph was.
Remember NiMh batteries are not damaged by an excessive discharge BUT tend to drop off quickly so you don't want to fly when it gets near 9.0v. You can change the alarm level and adjust the voltage display value in the service menu. I have set my alarm to 9.5v and adjusted the battery voltage display (as compared to a mid-quality DMM) to within 0.05v at the 9.5-9.6v level with the Tx On. |
